Jeff Bezos Is Finally Buying A MAJOR Pro Sports Francise

I think every fan with shitty owners has dreamed of reading this headline. Bezos has been linked to buying the Celtics, Lakers, a Seattle NBA Expansion team, the Washington Commanders, the Chicago Bears, and others, but it's Liverpool that gets all the Amazon bucks.

Fenway Sports group currently owns Liverpool. They bought one of the biggest clubs in the world in 2010 for $300M. That feels like CHUMP change now. The estimated valuation for Liverpool today is roughly $6 BILLION. Bezos and his group are reportedly buying a 30% stake which if the math is right comes out to about $1.8B. Not exactly cup holder money, but Bezos probably wouldn't even notice it missing from his account. A nice little ROI for the Fenway Group.

Now, I know I said at the open that people have dreamed of Bezos splashing his cash around for their favorite team, but I don't think you want an owner who looks at sports as an investment. Shareholders, dividends, bottom lines, etc. Fuck that. You look at the clubs around England, where money is ultimately king because there is no real salary cap and it hasn't worked out. I want ONE owner with infinite money. Not a board looking for returns. Chelsea hasn't been the same since the world forced Ibramovich to sell the club to an American group. You want an owner who wants to win and sees his team as a toy. A play thing. A vanity play. You want the big boss who would spend every last dime to his name if it meant glory. You want...Evangelos Marinakis.
