The GOAT of Kickers Delivered the GOAT of Hall of Fame Speeches, as Adam Vinatieri Goes Full Roast Comic on Bill Belichick and His Own Wife

With a great career comes great responsibility. When you are the best there's ever been at your job, and you get rewarded with immortality, you owe it to yourself and everyone else to give an immortal speech. One that will live on down through the ages along with all your accomplishments. 

That description most definitely applies to Adam Vinatieri. The NFL's All Time leader in points scored, field goals, Super Bowl winning field goals, and other miscellaneous clutch kicks. He's also No. 2 all time in extra points, owing to the fact that George Blanda's career spanned from just after WWII to the end of the Vietnam War. 

And not to be overlooked, he was a football player in every sense. Including, though not limited to, the time he chased down Herschel fookin' Walker from behind:

And so much was expected of his speech in Canton. He couldn't simply just get away from posing with his bust and thanking his parents:

His public wanted more. And boy howdy, did he ever bring it. He went full Jeff Ross on the man who coached him to three championships:

And then went bluer than Rob Gronkowski at the Tom Brady roast, bringing his balls and his wife into the discussion:

Credit to him where it's due. "She held for me in the offseason, when everyone else was gone," essentially telling everyone to get their mind out the gutter, is a great tag line to turn a dirty stand up bit clean. But as with any joke, we shouldn't analyze it. Just enjoy a master at his craft working the crowd. 

And even more credit to Mrs. Vinatieri, for being such a great sport about it. I can't say for sure, but I think it's a safe bet that Mrs. Blanda or Mrs. Morten Andersen didn't have to sit in the crowd and be adorable as their husbands thanked them for the way they gently cupped their balls. 

So thanks to her and to No. 4, the best there ever was at kicking a football between two thin-walled steel posts. Now it's time for Patriots fans to induct him in to the team Hall of Fame. Because we know his speech will be the best one ever delivered at One Patriots Place. And they've had some good ones.
