Las Vegas is Getting a Brand New 29-Story Heart Shaped Casino (And a Floating Restaurant On The "Pillars of Sadness" )

I love Las Vegas. Everything about it. The casinos on the strip, the casinos on Fremont Street, the oxygen those casinos are filled with. I love the reasonably priced In-N-Out Burger, and cheap beers at CVS you can drink on the street and take inside the casinos. I especially love the Fortune Cup horse racing casino game.

People say Las Vegas is an expensive trip, but I've always found it quite the opposite. If you're on a budget, you can have fun for a weekend in Vegas with not much more than a few hundred bucks. Hotel room included (not flights).

My favorite part of the Barstool Spring Break content this year was hearing the reaction from my co-workers who had never been to Las Vegas before. They would hop on The Yak for an update on Nicky Smokes dick (or whatever), and would talk like they just discovered something you wouldn't believe – "Seriously guys. Aside from everything Barstool has set up for us, Las Vegas is actually a really fun place."

Yeah, no shit guys. It's a playground for grown-ups. It's a city that was built only for adults to have fun. Fun is their only industry. Of course it's a blast. If you take things too far you might have a bad time. But if you know what you're doing (and gamble responsibly), I find it impossible to not have a good time.

That's my Las Vegas sales pitch. Pretty sure Barstool is sponsored by them now. This one's free, guys.

One more thing I appreciate about Las Vegas is that they're not afraid to be tacky as hell. Some of the newer casinos are a little basic for my liking. The insides are beautiful, but I prefer a themed casino – New York-New York, Excalibur, Paris, Circus Circus (RIP). And now, the newest approved casino coming to the Las Vegas strip – this casino resort with a giant ugly LED heart.

Honestly, I'm not sure if that counts as a theme. The casino doesn't even have a name yet. But it sure is tacky.

If you've visited Las Vegas in the last 10 years or so, and have been to the south end of the strip, you may have noticed two large pillars in the middle of a big vacant lot.

People have come to refer to those pillars as the "pillars of sadness". At one time, those two pillars were the start of construction on a 500-foot Ferris wheel "Super Wheel". The Super Wheel would have 40 gondolas, each able to carry 20-25 people. It was to be built on a 38-acre piece of land that would become 'London, Las Vegas'. At London, Las Vegas the bars, restaurants, shops, etc., would all be replicas of various British landmarks and neighborhoods.

But that project failed miserably. They never made it further than installing a couple pillars to nowhere. Which is a real shame, because London, Las Vegas sounds right up my alley. But no need to fear. After over a decade of nothing at all, the city is finally moving forward with a different project. A really, really big heart. And where the pillars of sadness currently stand, on top of them, a floating restaurant.

Sure, why not. Honestly, now that I just red up on London, Las Vegas, I'm a little sad that project failed. I just said how much I enjoy a themed casino. But hey… what better theme than LOVE… I guess. They better put a wedding chapel in there. I couldn't think of a more romantic place to be wed than at the giant LED heart where the pillars of sadness used to be.

And following your drunken impromptu wedding, if you're looking for a change of scenery/honeymoon, you'll be a short walk away from the brand new 'Top Gun Vegas' – coming soon to the south strip.

Sounds like a beautiful evening. Maybe you can even catch an A's game the next day. Then retreat to the tunnels beneath the city when you've realized you made the biggest mistake of your life.

Viva Las Vegas.
