LeBron Reportedly Still Hates Boston And The Celtics Are Last Team In The NBA He Would Ever Sign With
Brian Babineau. Getty Images. While the entire sports world awaits LeBron's decision as to where he'll be taking his talents next, I think it's now safe to say that one team in particular can be removed from the list of potential destinations.
Well then fuck you too LeBron! The feeling is mutual!
Now, was the idea of LeBron coming to Boston even plausible? Not really. While it's true they do have an open roster spot at the moment, a quick look at their books pretty much closed that door to begin with

With only $1.7M of space before crossing back over the luxury tax, I cannot see a world in which the Celts cut someone else or trade away a player just to bring in LeBron on the minimum while staying under the tax. And sorry, a 41 year old LeBron isn't exactly worth not resetting the repeater tax as we enter the next phase of team building next summer.
But if we're to believe Windy here and that LeBron still hates Boston…….uhhhhh ya think?
They are the whole reason he went to MIA in the first place, because he couldn't beat them. He knew he needed a superteam to get over the Celtics hump. And you know what? I love that he still hates Boston to this day. In a way, LeBron vs BOS is really one of the last relics from the old days that we have. That's true hate that I can respect, because the feeling is mutual. From the Cavs to the Heat to the Lakers, they've had real battles against one another. It's been 14 years, and I'm still traumatized about what I witnessed sitting in the 3rd row of Game 6 back in 2012. We really don't have this same level of rivalry/hatred in today's NBA as we have with the Celts vs LeBron at each of his stops, and frankly that's a shame.

I will say this though, are they really 30th on his list Windy? You're telling me the Kings are higher on the list than the Celtics (no offense)? You're telling me the Nets or the Grizzlies are higher on his list? I have a tough time believing that considering the Celts were actually on Rich Paul's whiteboard of potential LeBron destinations

Unless there's a different Brad & Tatum (lower left) I don't know about, I'm thinking that's Brad Stevens and Jayson Tatum, two people currently associated with the Boston Celtics. Call me crazy, but I do not see 29 other teams listed on that whiteboard. So while I do think Windy is telling the truth in that LeBron hates the Celtics and Boston with all of his heart, I do think he's a little full of shit to suggest they are the "last" team in the NBA he would play for. Let's also not forget the man loves Joe Mazzulla, who again, last time I checked, worked for the Boston Celtics.
I will say, with this "reporting" that I guess is more common knowledge than actual breaking news, combined with the list of his actual potential destinations of MIA/CLE/PHI/GS, no matter where he ends up it should only add more fuel to this rivalry.
It would have been pretty insane to see LeBron end his career in Boston of all places, and even if there are plenty of basketball reasons as to why he should seriously consider it, I can't say I ever gave it much thought in terms of being a real option. After 20+ years of mutual hatred towards one another, that would have required a great deal of mental gymnastics from everyone involved to suddenly all be on the same side.
So while LeBron continues to take his sweet ass time making his official announcement so he can bask in all the attention, I think it's safe to assume that announcement will not include the words "Boston Celtics", which is fine. Honestly, who even needs LeBron? He can turn down the Celtics all he wants, nobody really gives a shit. We're on to bigger and better things anyway
