The Founder Of Hinge Released A New AI Dating App That Doesn't Let You Swipe Or View Profiles, But Get Automatically Matched When The AI Decides Who You're Compatible With
Listen, this really is something straight out of Black Mirror. Everybody who has been on a dating app in the last 5 plus years knows how big of a joke they are. You view the hottest woman you've ever see and it turns out you're being catfished or she's real and somehow single with 20,000 swipes on her in the last 72 hours. You know there's no real chance of you getting that match or a date, so you end up looking like Nick Young trying to shoot a 3 near the buzzer:
Giphy Images.Or you do match with somebody, you go on a date, and chances are, it's going to be the worst date you've ever been on and you're out $175 because gentleman's code says you should always pay on the first date. Then you're left wondering in bed whether it's a you problem, or you were just the next fella in a long line of free dinners. Brutal stuff.
So the founder of Hinge decided to fix it with the best way anyone knows how in 2026 — AI. And look, AI clearly has its purposes in this world and before long, these very blogs are just going to be written by it. Commenters spent years telling me I was using AI back when it was in its infancy and typed like a 3rd grader just learning English. Now it just looks like slop you couldn't write on your best day with words you've never heard of, and then you've got guys like Nicky Smokes admitting he just puts his shit into AI to make his words sound a little bit more legible. Respect, king.
But AI dating is where you lose me. I don't care how advanced AI is getting, there's no way an algorithm is going to look at a woman's profile and say "yep, that's who you should date to marry." Maybe I'm just a skeptic and luckily am not in the market so this doesn't apply to me, but if you think it's going to pair you with the love of your life then maybe it's worth giving a shot. Seems like it's still in pre-release and on a waitlist, but best believe I'll update you with some horror stories from algorithm based dating when we get em.
Good luck out there.
