The Fireworks/Sandlot Tribute During The All Star Game Rocked
Some things truly are bigger than sports. What an awesome moment right down to the bikes barging into the field. Nailed it. The guys on the field are the perfect age like myself to have grown up with The Sandlot. It’s a timeless movie that brings you instantly back to a time that honestly might be fading away from today’s youth. Hop on a bike, no phone, ring a doorbell or just have an understanding “sandlot 9am” and you went there. No texts to update you were 5 minutes late or parents checking your location you were just out for the day and came home for dinner.
I vividly remember those days as do many of the guys on the field last night and I don’t know if that happens anymore. I can’t see parents letting their roommates just go out for hours on end, we’ve become too smart and the worlds become too dangerous in some aspects, but maybe just for a little bit we got to pretend it was as simple as it used to be and that commercial into break with the fireworks and bikes reminded us of that. Just innocent joy of growing up playing ball- the game you love unconditionally and being with your buddies without a care in the world in the summer time. True bliss.
The MLB fucks up a ton of things, but credit whoever got that idea because they nailed it.
