Tim Howard And Landon Donovan Wasted No Time Ripping Into Christian Pulisic For Being Soft And Subbing Himself Out Against Belgium

Goddamn. This isn't the first time we've seen these guys and this era of guys fighting with Christian Pulisic. It all happened when he skipped the Gold Cup. But that was the Gold Cup. That wasn't the biggest deal. Now we're talking about the World Cup, when the US was fighting for its life and Pulisic subbed himself out of the game, partly after giving up a 3rd goal. The bigger problem isn't the injury, it's this

Time to rest? What the fuck is that? You can't be saying anything along those lines after your team got its ass kicked on the biggest stage in front of the biggest audience we ever had. It's beyond soft. It's beyond stupid. I can't believe he said that, but then you see the comments from Howard and Donovan. You can take that with any grain of salt, but they did play with Pulisic. Howard is pretty cryptic but it's also not impossible to read through what he's saying.

This is all fair by the way. Pulisic is supposed to be the face of this team. He's supposed to be the leader and the star. At a minimum he's supposed to be the guy mixing it up and keeping this team in contention against a team like Belgium. He was fucking awful in that first half. Not only that, then you had the injury and the sub off. Again, injuries happen but how many times is he going to get injured, especially in one World Cup? It was pathetic to watch if we're being honest. We want the guy who put his nuts on the line against Iran in 2022 and reminded everyone what he's capable of. We want the guy from the first half against Paraguay who looked like one of the better players in the World Cup.

It's going to be four more years of this too by the way. Former players and analysts will judge Pulisic on every US outing until the next World Cup. He needs to fix something. Whether it's club over country, the injuries, whatever, something has to change.
