Less is More: Cincinnati Reds Radio Perfect ‘Boom’ Call on Kyle Schwarber’s Latest Home Run
Less is more.
In this case, just one perfect word tells the story of yet another Kyle Schwarber home run.
Awesome call by Jeff Brantley on Reds Radio. He called the big 3-0 swing from Schwarber, and he was 100% right.
Boom, indeed.
Here's how it looked.
Boom. Can almost see the old Batman TV show BOOM bubble when the ball hits the bat.
Hand up, I still listen to baseball on the radio. Now, I'm a million years old, I get it. But this is a great radio call.
Good analysis before the pitch. Natural, funny reaction.
No long drawn-out call. No mention of exit velocity (I'm sure they eventually mentioned it because baseball announcers LOVE telling you what the "exit velo" was on any big hit, like they're telling some secret every time they tell you 🙄🙄🙄).
Brantley played in the majors, which probably helps here.
As for Schwarber…dude is a machine. I'm jealous that Jordie and all the Phillies fans get to watch him every night.
He was great in a short stint for the Red Sox and wanted to come back. The Sox didn't want to pay him. Since then, he's had seasons of 46, 47, 38, and 51 home runs. He has 31 after this Boom, and that leads the league. He's led the league in two of the last four seasons. What a colossal fuck up by Chaim Bloom not to resign him in 2022. And then by Craig Breslow this offseason, when he was a free agent again.
The Sox have just 80 home runs, the fewest in baseball. They need all the Booms they can get.
Dead-on analysis, perfect word, and a great call by Brantley, here.
