South Korean Fans Are Having A Blast (Chugging Tequila Upside Down Out of Buckets) in Jalisco, Mexico Ahead of Their World Cup Opener

The World Cup hasn't even started yet, but as fans from across the world arrive in the United States, it's been lovely to see those from foreign countries enjoy the fruits of what our nation has to offer. In particular, a German named Freddy is going super mega viral for his delightfully wholesome, cross-country American adventure.

Fingers crossed that Freddy's next update isn't, "Stabbed at the 7/11" as he bleeds onto the pavement with a Mountain Dew Slurpee. Sorry, sorry I'm only kidding. I had that fleeting thought last night. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't halfway worried for the guy. But I would never wish that on good ol' Freddy Germany. His content has been crushing it this week. I won't even bother mentioning how hilariously easy it is to impress Americans by simply tweeting out that you enjoy Chili's. Keep up the great work, Fred. Enjoy the rest of your time in the states.

For the most part, the World Cup has been some good PR for the United States of America. But we're not the only North American country hosting the World Cup. Both Canada and Mexico have host sites as well (Toronto, Vancouver, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey).

Tomorrow night in Guadalajara, the South Koreans open group play vs Czechia at 10:00 PM EST.

While Freddy the German traverses the American south, having his mind blown by the scenes at Jordan Hare Stadium, and riding roller coasters in the mountains of Appalachia, South Korean fans are having a different type of "wholesome fun". By that I mean, they're chugging tequila upside down out of buckets, and it looks super fun.

Viva La South Korea. Don't let anybody tell them, or the good people of Jalisco that Guadalajara is a lesser host site than anywhere else. They might not have all the amenities a host site like Miami or Vancouver may have. There might have been that one pesky story regarding the 450 bags of human remains discovered near Estadio Akron.

But whatever Guadalajara lacks in comparison to host sites in the U.S. and Canada, they make up for in cheap tequila, mariachi, and an abundance of culture.

God bless the World Cup. Group play doesn't begin until tomorrow afternoon (Mexico vs South Africa – 3:00 PM EST), but it's already been so much fun to see the festivities play out across North America. It's amazing that it's been 32 years since we've last hosted one. We should really try it more often.
