The Knicks Say They Sold Two Courtside Seats On Celebrity Row To Game 3 Of The Finals For A Cool $1 MILLION
Sarah Stier. Getty Images.ESPN- In the NBA Finals, celebrity row property is worth $1 million. The New York Knicks announced that that was the winning bid in an auction for two seats for Game 3 on Monday night, the first NBA Finals game at Madison Square Garden since 1999.
The winning bid was split by the law firm Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher LLP and private equity firm Veritas Capital. The fundraiser benefited the Garden of Dreams Foundation, and the Knicks said it was the largest single donation in the history of the foundation, which works with MSG's companies to assist children at need in the tristate area.
The seats are located in section VIP 10, row AA, seats 25 and 26, right off center court. It's impossible to know what they would usually cost, because the team doesn't sell them. Instead, they are given to celebrity fans such as Tracy Morgan and Timothée Chalamet, who are courtside fixtures.
I don't know why, but it just feels right that those Celebrity Row tickets went for a million bucks. Trust me, I hate how much the get-in price for the first MSG Finals game of the century is, even if they have been dropping solidly over the last 24 hours. But there is something special about being able to buy a ticket that is not for sale for the magical price of a million bucks.
If the last 1.5 months of basketball didn't signify the Knicks are BACK back, that ridiculous price tag certainly did. Shout out to the Garden of Dreams Foundation for all they do for the local kids in the area. As a wise man once said, #Somethingsarebiggerthansports.
Speaking of which, this was awesome.
Back to the Celebrity Row tickets, I gotta know is who is going from both the Gibson, Dunn, and Crutcher LLP group as well as the Veritas Capital Firm since they split the tickets. Without knowing a fucking thing about either of those groups, I gotta imagine Gibson is the leader in the clubhouse to go based on name order alone, followed by Dunn then Crutcher then whoever LLP is. Just kidding, I may be an idiot that works for Barstool. But I still know that LLP is some sort of business term for a company, even though I have no damn clue what it stands for or means. As for the other ticket, I would imagine Veritas is run by some dude named Jimmy Veritas or some shit, who would be the logical choice to attend the game.
Which takes me to my final question. Which celebrities will they be sitting next to? Obviously Chalamet is the Lisan al-Gaib of celebrity Knicks fans and the 1-1 choice to sit next to. But I don't think even a million dollars gets you rubbing elbows with Marty Supreme or even Tracy Morgan, who probably needs a spotter since you never know what that maniac may do or say at any minutes. I'd say best case scenario, you are sitting next to Mrs. Ben Stiller AKA Christine Taylor, which would be worth every single dollar of that million considering I've had a crush on her since she was Melody on Hey Dude before she poured napalm on my hormones as Drew Barrymore's promiscuous friend in The Wedding Singer (fuck that bitch Glenn Gulia though, who could never spend a million dollars to attend a Knicks game).
