"Lick My Ballsack" – Women's College Softball Fan Found a Hot Mic at Texas-Arizona State Super Regional This Weekend
Good one, Chris Griffin. We do agree that in this situation, the "lick my ballsack" bandit knew what they were doing? Right? Like that wasn't a random fan giving a stray "lick my ballsack" while ESPN mistakenly had a mic within earshot. That was a fan who got eyes on a mic, and knew he could say whatever the hell he wanted and have it broadcast live on ESPN.
Yahoo Sports – Broadcasters usually place those microphones near stands because they want to capture the emotions of the fans during the game. But one fan noticed the microphone during the softball game and created a viral but awkward moment by making an NSFW comment.
If that is what happened, I'm not sure "lick my ballsack" is the best use of a live mic. "Lick my ballsack" is fine. It's nothing special. Not too terribly inappropriate. Not too political. It seems like something you'd come up if you were trying to be funny on the spot, and had about 2 seconds to make it happen. That's how you land on lick my ballsack. Personally, if I had time to gather my thoughts, I would have gone for some sort of viral promotion, or something hysterical and trendy like "six-seven"
That being said, I thought the title of this Yahoo Sports article was a little misleading.
I'm not sure you can confidently say that "lick my ballsack" was "made against" the softball players. Maybe it was. But I read it more as an attempt at humor under pressure. That "lick my ballsack" was directed at us – the viewers at home/people online who will see the clip posted and say, "ha…"
Get control of your microphones, ESPN. Especially when it's 5-0 in the 7th inning. The game is all but over. That's when fans start to looking around the stadium for other ways to entertain themselves. That's how "lick my ballsack" happens.
