Chiefs WR Rashee Rice Is Set to Miss OTAs and Minicamp After Getting Caught With Weed While on Probation and Being Sentenced to 30 Days in Jail

Well... another chapter to the Rashee Rice off-the-field issues has been added, as the Super Bowl champ tested positive for weed while on probation, which violates the probation, and is now spending 30 days in jail. At what point is it going to be the tipping point for Andy Reid and the Chiefs, or shit, even the NFL?

Rice, who had an amazing rookie season in 2023 with almost 1,000 yards and 80 catches, was solidifying himself as Mahomes’ next guy for the next decade. Since the Chiefs won Super Bowl 58, Rice has seen the field 12 times in a possible 26 games over the last two years, has dealt with a torn ACL, and a six-game suspension after being charged with two third-degree felonies following a 2024 high-speed street race gone wrong.

Look, I’m not going to sugarcoat this, he needs to set his mind straight. I think you could make a case that on 31 out of 32 teams, Rice is already off the team, but in Kansas City they are known for giving second chances and helping guys get back on track. Rice was given the help, and it obviously didn’t change anything, as his name continues to get brought up in the news.

This guy has the stuff to be an All-Pro WR, and he has the QB to get him there. Everything is up to him, and this might be the tipping point where he is never given another chance. It really isn’t up to him now, though — it’s up to the Chiefs organization and the NFL.

This also hurts the Chiefs terribly after not signing a WR in free agency or waiting until Round 5 of the draft to take one this year. I really have no idea what’s going to happen because not many guys have gotten a third strike with Andy Reid, and here we are. Only time will tell, but he has to figure something out.

Is it time?
