More "Sell The Team" Chants Rain Down At Fenway Park As Kyle Schwarber Continues to Make The Red Sox Look Like Morons For Not Even Offering Him A Contract This Offseason
The 8th inning at Fenway Park was bad enough to get the Red Sox fans to start chanting "Sell the Team" Thursday Night at Fenway Park. Not the first time it's happened, it had been a few weeks.
Unlike the Red Sox broadcast, which has gotten into a bad habit of trying to sugarcoat everything, the Phillies broadcast actually acknowledged the chants and had some fun with them. Good for those guys. And good for the fans who mustered up the energy for the chants as the team was getting its heart ripped out in the 8th inning.
For the record, if these chants happened to another team, and the Sox were the road squad, NESN's play-by-play guy Dave O'Brien would 100% mention it. But at home, and this has happened a few times now, the NESN broadcast ignores it rather that embrace that fans are angry at the product the team is putting on the field.
We can hear the chants, OB. Even if you don't mention them, we can still hear them.
Fans are angry at the product. They're Angry at the results. And I don't know if they're angry with the process, but they sure as hell should be. It's a process that led the team to NOT sign a big bat in the offseason.
Kyle Schwarber has 18 home runs this season. He's one of the most impactful bats in all of baseball. Schwarber loved his time in Boston and was reportedly interested in returning this offseason as a free agent. He'd upgrade the Sox offense the second he put the uniform on. He blasted the homerun that put the Phillies ahead on Thursday and led to the "Sell The Team" chants.
It came out this week that their apparent pursuit of Kyle Schwarber was nothing more than a fucking courtesy call.
“We had the phone call, the Zoom, whatever it is,” Schwarber told the Boston Globe. There was a conversation. (The Sox’ pursuit) kind of just started and ended with the conversation.”
What a clown show.
I don't know if I blame John Henry or Craig Breslow more. The team has $130 million to spend on pitcher Ranger Suarez, so there was SOME sort of budget. So why is there no big bat in the lineup? How is Breslow still here??? Maddening.
The team has scored 22 runs in its last 12 games at Fenway Park. They are now 1-5-1 in their seven home series.
It was only a two-run game in the 9th, and NESN shows a Fenway full of Phillies fans standing and cheering for their team in Boston, where the "Let's Go Phillies" chants drowned out the "Sell The Team" chants.
Between the 8th inning meltdown, the offense sucking, the chants, and Philly fans taking over Fenway…Thursday was the new low-point of the 2026 season for the Red Sox.
Red Sox are now a full 10.5 back in the AL East. They play the Braves in Atlanta this weekend. New low point incoming, probably.
