Jay Williams Suggesting The Celtics Organization Is Actually The One Pitting Jayson Tatum And Jaylen Brown Against Each Other Is Patently Insane

Part of the reason you always want to avoid an embarrassing early playoff exit is that once your season is officially over, depending on who you are, it opens the door for months and months of bullshit. For example, when was the last time you heard any media outlet/talking head show etc talk about the Denver Nuggets, their star duo, Jokic, etc? That was a team that lost in Round 1 to a severely undermanned Wolves team as title contenders, and it's crickets.

On the other end of the spectrum, we have the Boston Celtics. Another title contender who lost in Round 1 to a team that would eventually get swept, while blowing a 3-1 lead. Absolutely a situation that should have them dragged by the entire basketball world for a few days following such a disastrous playoff performance. That's fine.

It is now May 13th. The Celts season has been over for nearly two weeks. Active playoff games are going on as we speak. Yet here we are again, still the main topic of discussion, rehashing the same shit we had to deal with all the way back in 2019.

Following the Celts collapse, it's been the same old story. Tatum and Brown supposedly can't coexist; there's supposed beef between the two, blah blah blah. It's nothing we haven't lived through before, only now it's even more embarrassing given everything we've witnessed over the course of the Jays' careers. But what do we know? Tatum/Brown and the Boston Celtics move the needle. It's why you're hearing about them every day and absolutely nothing about a team like the Nuggets.

The latest bullshit? Following a pretty innocent interview where Tatum talked about what goals he's still chasing 

which, for a guy who has accomplished a whole lot so far in his career, isn't even all that controversial, naturally led to more bullshit from the usual suspects.

I'm sorry, is the inclination here that the Boston Celtics are pitting Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown against each other?? Mind you, the person and show and network that has been trying to drive a wedge between the two players for years is now telling you that it's actually the Celtics organization that is the one doing it?

Let's not forget, this is all coming off Jayson Tatum saying he wants to win another title and his first Finals MVP. I'm not even sure how the human brain jumps to this type of conclusion, but it supports what we've known for nearly a decade. For whatever reason, the Celtics and the Tatum/Brown duo legitimately break people's brains. We've truly never seen anything like it. 

We have years of both players talking about how there's no beef, and they need each other. We have years of the Celtics organization being supportive of both players. We have years of evidence that the duo has found a way to succeed together at a level few duos have ever accomplished in NBA history. 

But no, you just don't get it. The Celtics are actually the root of this entire thing. Yeah, I know this entire discourse following the Celts getting bounced has been media-driven, but don't be silly. That's actually the Celtics organization doing those things.

But you know what? At the end of the day, the Celtics have no one to blame but themselves for the fact that this is happening. This is what you get when you blow a 3-1 lead. You open the door for bullshit like this. All of these shows have been waiting for years to get back into the Tatum vs Brown discourse, and they let it happen. The way you avoid these things is by winning and continuing to play actual basketball. Once that stops, it's like chum in the water for the media sharks who know that doing stuff like this will drive eyeballs and engagement. Not for everyone, but most definitely for the Celtics and Tatum/Brown.
