Jaylen Brown Hopped Back On His Stream To Clear The Air Around His Supposed Frustration With The Celtics, Favorite Season Comments & More

All things considered, the last 72 hours have been nothing but hell for yours truly. Just not a great time in any way shape or form. To those who revel in my pain? That's fair. I can't puff my chest out when things are good and then not be ready and accepting of the blitz when things take a disastrous turn. That's the price of doing business.

There are a lot of shitty aspects to watching your favorite team blow a 3-1 lead in the first round of the NBA playoffs by losing a Game 7 on their home floor, but very high on that list is the fact that your life no longer becomes about basketball. You lost that privilege. Now, the only things that matter is off the court stuff, rumors, drama, and Twitch streams. It's no way to live if you ask me. I'd much rather be in a playoff series at the moment, but here we are.

Instead of Celtics basketball, the biggest story around this team right now is Jaylen Brown's Twitch stream.

The one he did immediately after Game 7? A complete disaster and a terrible, terrible look. With the wounds that fresh, it just wasn't what the situation needed. Things were too hot.

From there, all hell has broken loose. It's the topic of every TV show. T-Mac is out there throwing gas on the fire which leads to more rumors and more distractions and more toxicity. Brad Stevens was forced to answer questions about it during his end of year presser. I don't want to say things were spiraling, but things were kind of spiraling.

What we needed, was to hear from Jaylen. Especially around the T-Mac comments. So when he announced earlier today he would be hopping back on the stream, I hoped he would take that opportunity to provide some context and explanation over everything that had happened over the last 24-48 hours.

That's essentially exactly what he did.

When it came to T-Mac's comments about Jaylen having a deep frustration with the organization, Jaylen had this to say

Does that sound like a guy who is trying to shoot his way out of Boston? I dunno. I'm biased so my heart says no it doesn't, but at this point who the hell knows. I'm just happy it was addressed and that the answer was pretty damn good.

It's also interesting the words "if it was up to me" were used. Partially because at the end of the day, everything is up to Brad, but also because it tells you should you choose to believe it that if a trade does happen, it's not coming from him. I know the fun narrative at the moment is that Jaylen can't share a team with Tatum or whatever, but that's not exactly the impression I got in that clip.

The other big thing was the "favorite season" comment. Part of me thinks this went so viral because so many people probably had no idea Jaylen had said both that statement and why several times throughout the season, but he put even more context around it today and from that aspect, you can understand his perspective

I can't imagine anyone being upset over that or even think that's a wrong perspective to have. He went on to talk more about the failure aspect and why he personally doesn't view things that way while acknowledging what a disaster losing in the first round was, including seeing Jayson Tatum play

Listen, I get both sides. This Celtics team losing in Round 1 is an objective failure when it comes to the goal of winning the title. That's the ultimate goal and they failed to achieve it. But that does not mean everything about this current season was a failure. I'm not saying everyone should agree with this mindset or perspective, but I respect it. I can't tell someone how to feel, and I understand where Jaylen is coming from.

There was also a quick little double down on the officiating which will probably come with another fine, but whatever Jaylen has supermax money so he'll be OK

Do I wish none of this was even happening? Of course. This is what happens when you score 11 points in the 4th quarter of Game 5. That will haunt me forever.

But I will say that this time around, the stream was much better. Jaylen addressed what he needed to address, took accountability and provided needed context. Whether you believe any of it is up to you.

Now we just wait to see what Brad Stevens has up his sleeve, because that man looked and sounded rather pissed earlier today.
