FOX is Paying One Person $50,000 to Watch Every World Cup Soccer Match From a Glass Cube in The Middle of Times Square

FOX Sports – FOX Sports, FOX One and Indeed, the world's No. 1 job site and a prominent hiring platform, announced on Tuesday morning a nationwide search to fill the position of "FOX One Chief World Cup Watcher Hired Through Indeed."

The job, which will pay $50,000, entails the individual watching all 104 matches of the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup in 4K on FOX One, which is the official streaming platform of the tournament, from their personal office, which will be a "custom-built, dream viewing space" glass cube in the middle of Times Square, New York.

I'm not sure if FOX One hiring a Barstool employee for a dream job on top of a dream job would go over especially well. It also might be a conflict of interest, seeing as FOX and Barstool work together daily. But consider this my application. Because with all due respect, I certainly won't be taking the time to follow the application process that requires me to "update my Indeed profile".

To be considered for the role, applicants should update or create an Indeed profile to include any relevant experience and skills and share a short video detailing why they're the ideal person for the job. Applications will be accepted through May 17.

I know there will be a day where I'm forced to get back on Indeed, but I'm kicking that can down the road as long as humanly possible.

And I know I'm not necessarily a "soccer fan". But like any good American who doesn't watch much soccer, I still enjoy the World Cup. Shouldn't your $50K paid World Cup fan be representative of the average American World Cup enjoyer? Somebody who couldn't name you more than a handful of players, but will be demanding a new head coach the minute we go down 1-0 to Paraguay, and scream "SHOOT THE BALL!!!" every time we cross mid-field with the confidence of a seasoned soccer professional. Fútbol is the beautiful game, but that's soccer baby.

I honestly can't quite tell if this is meant to be a real job for someone with real content creating experience, or if it's more of a fan contest.

This FIFA World Cup will be a historic tournament that calls for an equally historic hire," FOX Sports President of Marketing Robert Gottlieb said in a press release. "One engaged applicant will get the job of a lifetime to experience and celebrate every story, every nation and every exhilarating moment that defines the beautiful game."

The "FOX One Chief World Cup Watcher Hired Through Indeed" will share social content to engage with fans while watching the games in a watch-party setting.

To be considered for the role, applicants should update or create an Indeed profile to include any relevant experience and skills and share a short video detailing why they're the ideal person for the job. Applications will be accepted through May 17.

The hired applicant begins on Saturday, June 6, which is one week before the tournament commences, and their role ends on Sunday, July 26, one week after the tournament concludes. On June 6, the hire will be publicly revealed during FOX's broadcast of the New York Yankees hosting the Boston Red Sox.

I've now come to realize how much this probably seems like an ad. That really wasn't my intention. I just thought it sounded like a pretty sweet deal. And probably super fucking awkward for whoever is in the cube. But if you can get over the whole being a zoo animal thing, it really is a dream job. It's more than enough money to take a little unpaid time off your real job, and spend a month as the glass cube Times Square World Cup guy.

Unless of course it's a situation where you're not allowed to leave the glass cube. Like… at all. Like, you're forced to sleep, go to the bathroom, shower, and live in the middle of the most overcrowded block in all of New York City… be gawked at by tourists… masturbated to by homeless dudes… spit on my Meek Phils, etc.

I don't think this whole thing is meant to turn into a Barstool After Dark-style torture porn stream. I think the World Cup Times Square Glass Cube job is meant to actually be fun. But it's your cube. I suppose it's what you make it. If you want to invite Meek Phil to spice things up, Barstool New York is just a few blocks away.
