RUMOR: Disney Might Remove Their Star Wars Sequel Trilogy From The Canon Timeline So They Can Go Back To Making Stories About OG Characters Like Luke Skywalker? OH THANK THE MAKER!

Hot day for Star Wars #content here at Barstool SPORTS huh? May the 5th be with you!

But before we get into this juicy rumor about Disney potentially vaporizing the Rey & Finn sequel trilogy for good... Give a click below for a great ranking debate between Connor Griffin & Jerry Thornton. Great points on both sides of the aisle.

Although overall, I'd say it was a fairly easy victory for Old Balls over The Jizz Janitor. You just can't rank 'Solo' as anything above last place and expect to be taken seriously in this forum. And on top of that he put 2 of the JJ Abrams/Rian Johnson Star Wars films in his Top 4 too? That's straight up bantha poodoo. No offense but offense.

And yet it does help paint the bigger picture of where Star Wars fandom stands in 2026. It's incredibly fractured, with very few signs of life for the future, while the original trilogy characters are still doing the heavy lifting as everyones favorite comfort blanket. Along with a sprinkle of Mando & Grogu.

Tough scenes all around for Disney trying to figure out what to do next. Really is too bad they can't really make a sequel for 'Andor'. That show was absolute nails. Although it is pretty cool to see 'The Clone Wars' still make such a big impact all these years later. For my money that's some of the best storytelling Star Wars has ever done. Should be required viewing before watching 'Revenge Of The Sith' if you really wanna know about the depth of Anakin & Obi Wan's friendship. No surprise that show was the last thing George Lucas ever created for the franchise.

So where does The Mouse go from here with no new trilogy prospects and kids who don't give a single fuck about buying a Rey or Finn toy? Well… maybe I could interest Mickey in a full scale timeline reboot using a cheap but effective narrative trick they already installed in an animated Star Wars show years ago?

GO ON…

(SOURCE) - According to an exclusive report from That Park Place’s WDW Pro, a source close to Lucasfilm claims internal discussions are underway to “branch off” the Star Wars sequel trilogy to effectively remove it from the primary continuity and allow future storytelling to pivot back toward legacy characters from the original films.

This is where things get interesting—and where the rumor starts to line up with what fans are already seeing on the ground.

At Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge, cast members portraying Ahsoka have reportedly been giving a very specific, very consistent explanation when guests ask why characters from different eras are appearing together. The answer? The “World Between Worlds” has been "shattered" and disrupted.

That concept, introduced in Star Wars Rebels, is essentially a dimension that connects all points in time and space—making it a perfect narrative tool for timeline manipulation. Disney Parks performers don’t improvise lore like this. Their responses are tightly controlled, pre-approved, and often coordinated with Lucasfilm’s story group. If this explanation is being used consistently, it strongly suggests it’s coming from somewhere official. In other words, the groundwork for a timeline split may already be in motion—just not on screen yet.

Certainly a VERY big swing to take if Disney actually goes that route. But it's not like they have anything to lose at this point either. And as crazy as it is to say, I think they could pull it off pretty seamlessly too. Star Wars fans are craving for something to care about again. I went to a showing of 'A New Hope' in NYC last night and it was a sold out crowd that clapped & cheered like it was their 1st time seeing lightsabers & light speed. Those characters & their potential arcs are still ELITE for every generation of fans.

At this point I'm not sure 'The Force Awakens' would even sell out a cinema. And that's the only one I liked out of the new 3! So I say call up Corncob TV and pull the damn plug on Kathleen Kennedy's rancid piss filled attempt. It's over. The woke bums LOST.

According to the source cited by WDW Pro, Lucasfilm is considering a scenario where upcoming storytelling—potentially centered around Ahsoka—separates the sequel trilogy into its own branch of continuity. It’s a cleaner approach than a full reboot—and far easier to explain within the established lore. The report also suggests that Ahsoka’s future could play a pivotal role, potentially serving as the narrative bridge that triggers this shift.

That would allow Disney to:

Preserve the existing films without outright erasing them

  • Continue telling stories with original trilogy characters in a new primary timeline
  • Reset audience expectations without publicly admitting failure

Look, it's an insane pie-in-the-sky rumor no doubt but crazier things have happened in Hollywood. Certainly no accident that the Star Wars parks are already harkening back to the OG characters instead of Kylo Ren & that lame Asian chick. so I'm guessing where there's smoke there's Mustafar fire. Plus not exactly rocket science why they would attempt such a bold reboot.

MONEY. TOYS. AND MORE FUCKING MONEY.

Star Wars merchandise peaked at $700M in 2015 when Force Awakens launched. By 2019, the year Rise of Skywalker shipped with a billion-dollar marketing push as the supposed finale of the Skywalker Saga, Hasbro's Star Wars line was doing roughly $150M. A 70%+ collapse during the trilogy's own theatrical run. Then 2020 happened. No new movies. A streaming show legally unavailable in most international markets. Hasbro's Star Wars revenue grew 70% year-over-year. One character named Grogu outsold three years of sequel-trilogy merchandise. The sequel cast specifically can't move inventory at any price point. Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose, Holdo: Walmart clearance for years. Diamond Select's president said sales on TFA and TLJ products "were not too strong." Hasbro silently stopped producing Rise of Skywalker figures mid-line. There is no mass-market action figure for Poe, Finn, Lando, unmasked Kylo, Palpatine, or Leia from that movie. The licensees gave up before the trilogy finished releasing.

The Lucasfilm acquisition was a $4.05B bet on the merchandise flywheel that built modern Hollywood toy licensing. Kenner's best year selling Original Trilogy toys, adjusted for inflation, outperformed the entire Disney era combined. That's the asset Disney bought. Galaxy's Edge runs the same play. Over $1B per park to build a Star Wars land set on a sequel-era planet nobody cared about. Both parks underperformed projections. The Mandalorian-themed expansion now under construction is the admission. If the rumor lands, this is the most expensive retcon in entertainment history. Five years of IP development written off because the licensees voted with their order books. Luke, Han, Leia, Vader, Boba, Mando, Grogu, Ahsoka generate revenue. The sequel cast generates returns.

Lots of angry nerd words in this blog, but they're all meant with love. I just wanna see Luke, Han & Leia together again flying around the galaxy on some crazy adventures. Is that too much to ask? I'd even settle for a fully Cristal version if it means we're getting them back in the fold.

But first let's just get through 'Mandalorian & Grogu' and hope we have hope for the future. So far those trailers make it seem like a glorified Disney+ episode geared for kids ONLY. And the visuals look bland as hell. What happened to shooting on sets with real props the way George did it? As Darth Maul Handsome Hank Lockwood would say, "Fucking a man." Goddamn it sucks getting older and seeing everything you love turn to shit.

Now if you'll excuse me I have some nostalgic sounds to enjoy and angry Reddit posts to upvote. Live long & prosper.

PS: shout out to this bro who deserves a spot in the next 'Star Wars' AND 'Police Academy' movie. Dudes ROCK.
