Wild Dashcam Footage of Bakery Truck Driver Who Had His Truck CLIPPED BY A LANDING AIRPLANE On Its Way Into Newark Airport
NBC 4 – Stunning video appears to show the moment of impact as a United Airlines jet hit a tractor-trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike Sunday, making a loud boom as the driver's dashcam spins in a swirl of shattered glass.
It was about 2 p.m. Sunday when Flight 169, arriving from Venice, Italy, hit a Baker's Express truck as it traveled south on the Turnpike. The truck was hauling products from Schmidt Bakery in Baltimore, Maryland, to a distribution center near Newark Airport.
Video footage from inside the truck shows the driver singing to himself. Suddenly, he hears a loud noise and glances up at his rearview mirror. Audio from inside the cab sounds like the loud whistling of a jet landing.
Then the plane's landing gear tire hits, sending debris flying everywhere.
The flight landed safely at Newark.
I've never seen a Spirit Airlines plane smoke a bakery truck on the turnpike on it's way into Newark (EWR). That's for damn sure. Look at those poor out-of-business Spirit Airlines planes sitting there unable to fly, looking on in shame at their United Airlines friend who just crashed into a truck on the New Jersey Turnpike.

I mean, think about that. Obviously you already are because that's the topic of this blog. But holy shit. That's a pilot fuck up the likes of which I've never even heard of. I'd almost be more understanding had the pilot lost control of the plane completely and used the turnpike as a runway. But to come in so low on the landing that cars driving innocently on the highway on Sunday afternoon aren't even safe... that's crazy to think about. Do you know how many times I've driven on that exact stretch of road? Not very many. Probably less than 10. But I had known this was a possibility, it sure would have added a little excitement to the drive.
And I'll sure be looking at incoming planes differently when driving past the airport from now on. You can tel exactly what's going on in that poor singing bakery truck driver's head as he clocks the plane flying over head

"Oh wow, that's close. Look how big it is. Crazy how low close these planes over the highway. Almost looks like it's going t––!@#$!@#$%$#@"
It's so unheard of that you wouldn't even consider the plane a threat until it's landing gear was inside of your windshield.
On the bright side, I think we can all but guarantee that man will never have to drive a bakery truck again in his life.
Chuck Paterakis, senior vice president of transportation and logistics at H&S Bakery, the parent company of Schmidt Bakery, said the driver suffered minor injuries, including glass in his arm and hand. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Thank god he made a full recovery. I can't think of many entities I'd rather take a fat settlement check from than a major airline like United. They've got plenty of money to spare. This man will never drive a bakery truck again. He'll probably never drive a car again. United Airlines has traumatized him for life. Driving was his career. Thanks to United, he won't be able to go back to work. You can't put a price on having your career, and your peace of mind stripped away from you in the blink of an eye…
But by my math… surely owed somewhere in the neighborhood of $200M. That's what you ask for in court at least. Ambulance chasing defense attorneys are probably lined up outside his front door as we speak. Good luck taking United Airlines for as much as you possibly can, and congratulations on your early retirement.
