The Cubs Start Playing The Best Baseball They Have In Years Just As The NL Central Becomes An Absolute Warzone

Before the season I always like to chuck a future on the Cubs, something fun to track throughout the regular season while watching my boys and this year I was stuck between two. They were essentially the same odds for either A. Cubs to win the NL Central or B. Cubs to get 90+ wins (both around +120). Thank GOD I went with the Cubs to get 90+ wins.

The Cubs currently are 22-12, they have won 11 straight games at Wrigley Field, won 15 out of their last 18 games total, and are on a 5 game win-streak. You would think after hearing that stat they should be running away with the NL Central right? Wrong. Every single team in the NL Central is over .500, that has only happened FOUR times in MLB history this late into the season.

But now the real question is looking around the division? How sustainable truly is this? I think the Cubs will continue to climb the mountain especially because they're doing all of this currently with damn near their entire pitching staff on IL. From Cade Horton who's sadly out for the year to the bullpen with names like Porter Hodge and Caleb Thielbar, and Justin Steele as well who sadly just had a hiccup in his rehab. It is unbelievable looking through that list and seeing that they are just absolutely dominating anyone who comes in their way.

The biggest factors in this win streak? Nico Hoerner and the emergence of MO. BALLER. Mo is literally a baby, 22 years young and can't stop hitting home runs and batting lights out. He's a massive guy and has so much power it's cinema every single at bat. Then over to Nico, he is maybe one of the best contracts in recent Chicago sports history. We have him locked up for the next six years for only(lol) 141 million dollars and he has been playing this season like that number should be 600 million. From gold glove plays multiple times a game to being one of the best contact hitters in baseball, I just can't get enough. 

This Cubs team has just been so fun to watch but I absolutely hate that the entire Central has been as well. This next month is when everybody really begins to play each other, tonight for the Cubs going into a 4 game series against the Reds but all that we are about to see is POPCORN. Go Cubbies and lets stay HOT.
