Getting Drilled With Cam York's Stick After He Rocketed It Into The Crowd Is One Of The Highest Honors Any Flyers Fan Could Ask For

Cam York scored the biggest goal of his life last night to send the Philadelphia Flyers to the 2nd round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. It was his first career playoff goal, and it was a series clinching overtime winner. They don't come much better than that.

Over the years, that '01 group of American players have turned the stick toss into their signature celebration for overtime winners. Jack Hughes, Cole Caufield, Trevor Zegras. That group that played together for the USNTDP U18 team in 2019 absolutely loves launching Bauers into the crowd after ending a game in OT. Cam York got his chance last night, and it was the most belligerent stick toss of them all. That thing was RIFLED up into the crowd. The only thing launched harder than his stick was that giant box of popcorn that was tossed immediately as the goal horn went off.

Now once all the adrenaline wore off and the situation really sunk in, Cam York realized there's probably a Flyers fan in the ER getting stitched up after taking a Bauer Nexus Tracer to the dome. He picked up his 1st career playoff overtime goal, but he didn't want his 1st career lawsuit to follow.

Besides jumping into the penalty box to fight Tie Domi, I can't think of a better moment for a Flyers fan than to get drilled with York's twig after closing out a series against Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Whether you left the building with a gash over your eye or not, it would have been an incredible honor. But fortunately for these fans, everyone got out of there with a clean bill of health.

You gotta love how everybody is taking photos with the stick like it's some sort of trophy fish.

First goal for Cam York since January. Something tells me he might want to get his hands back on that stick somehow to see if there's any more goals left in there. Get these guys hooked up with some tickets for the rest of the playoffs, get the stick back, start putting up some 2022 Cale Makar numbers.

What a shot. What a celebration. And what a moment for those fans. We now have a #1 leader in the clubhouse for stick tosses after playoff overtime winners that involve the Philadelphia Flyers. See ya later, Marc Savard.

P.S. -- All these spoiled, rotten American kids not giving a shit about tossing away a $350 stick.
