The Spurs Unleashing Their Beautiful Fiesta Court And Matching Color T-Shirt Giveaway For The Playoffs Is An Absolute Cheat Code
G Fiume. Getty Images. The San Antonio Spurs just completed one of the best regular seasons in the entire NBA. In just 2 years, they went from 60 losses to 62 wins (2nd most in the NBA), while also owning the 2nd best point differential (+8.3) and being 1 of 2 teams to finish the year top 5 in both offense and defense (Boston). Wemby is a lock for DPOY and 1st Team All NBA, and while they may have experience when it comes to the postseason, sometimes you learn that if you have a generational 7'5 basketball alien who completely dominates both ends of the floor then perhaps the normal rules of NBA history may not apply.
There are a million different basketball reasons why the Spurs should be considered a legitimate NBA title contender, but we also have to consider the "extra" stuff as well. Once you get to this time of year, the smallest of details can make all the difference in the world. If you have an ace up your sleeve, now is the time to play it and the Spurs might have one of the best aces of any team in the playoff field.
Their absolutely beautiful alternate Fiesta court
Giphy Images.I can't lie, that court and matching t-shirt for each section is sick as hell. The Blazers were already facing an uphill battle in this series and things just got even tougher for Game 1. If I'm the Spurs, I think I roll with this court/look for as long as it helps produce wins. You can try and downplay it all you want, but in the playoffs, this shit matters. Anything that could give the players a 1% boost can be the difference in moving on or going home, and I feel like it would be impossible to not feel great wearing that alternate jersey and playing on that beautiful court. If that boost in energy makes even the slightest difference in play, you never know what can happen.
Now, it goes without saying that every single person in attendance needs to not be an asshole and buy in. Wear the shirt. Put it over whatever you go to the game wearing. This shouldn't even be an issue because you should be prepared for the t-shirt at this point. For this idea to truly work, the entire arena needs to be on the same page and buy in. I know there's always someone who wants to be an asshole and go against the masses, and if that happens everyone around that person needs to see something and say something, and that person then needs to either put the shit on or get the hell out. This isn't about you, this is about the Spurs winning a title. Everyone has to do their part. There should be a rule like how the Clippers can throw people out of their "Wall" section if you wear a Lakers jersey or something. Anyone in attendance who doesn't put on the shirt should be subject to removal. Especially considering the Spurs are legit contenders, this is not the time to fuck around it's the time to collectively buy in and help your favorite team be the best they can be. That includes creating an all time homecourt advantage.
Given the Spurs were 32-8 at home this season, imagine what could be possible this postseason run with collective buy in and a sick court/crowd/jersey combo?

You add that with arguably one of the best players on the planet and the statistical profile of a team that generally goes to make deep runs/win the title? There's no reason to think this Spurs team can't get it done. I know NBA history says they have to take their lumps first just like those who came before them, but times are changing in the NBA. At some point, a young team is going to break through on their first run together (last year was not OKC's first run together, obviously) and the Spurs certainly look like a team with as good a shot as any
