In The Least Surprising News Of All Time, Doc Rivers Is Out As Head Coach Of The Bucks

By pretty much all accounts, the Milwaukee Bucks had a season from hell. From a roster that wasn't good enough, injuries, Giannis trade drama, Doc Rivers coaching drama, overall underachievement and what many would consider the beginning of the end, it was a tough year.

And while the summer will undoubtedly bring more change, with the season now coming to a close, that meant the time had come for the Bucks to make their first decision.

Uhhhhh ya think? Everyone knew Doc's time as the head coach of the Bucks was over. You knew it, I knew it, we all knew it. You know who also knew it? Doc Rivers himself

He's no dummy. Doc's been in the league long enough to know how these situations usually go. I doubt he gives a shit considering he's about to walk into the HOF, but when you're entering a rebuild as an organization, that tends to be about when the Doc experiment comes to an end.

With a 97-103 record during his tenure, it's not exactly the end of the world. I'm sure they'll fumble the next coaching decision, given that this front office has given that fanbase zero reason to be confident they are capable of making a good decision when it comes to their basketball team. If I'm interviewing for that job, I want to know what's going on with Giannis first and foremost. Considering he's most likely getting traded too, are the Bucks a better job than say, the Bulls? What about if a team underachieves during the playoffs and fires their coach, that team is probably better than the Bucks as well.

The point is, I'm not sure how attractive of a job this even is. If I were the Bucks, I would avoid a re-tread. Find a young coach you can build around and establish some sort of consistency. All good franchises and teams have consistency. Don't just bring in the big name guy because you think that's what matters. As the Doc Rivers era just showed, it clearly does not.

In hindsight, the Bucks probably shouldn't have fired Adrian Griffin unless there is something that went on behind the scenes we have no idea about. At that time they were 30-13, and things were trending up. Ever since, they've been a disaster. I bet if you gave them the option of going back in time they'd maybe want a mulligan on that one. Or even if they still wanted to fire Griffin, hire anyone other that Doc. That never made sense from the start, but the Bucks certainly aren't the only team that has tried to talk themselves into Doc carrying them over the finish line.

Sadly, it didn't work out and they are now onto their third coach in three seasons and Giannis is most likely hitting the market in a few months.
