Say It Ain't So, Sexy Dexy! Dexter Lawrence Has Reportedly Requested A Trade From The Giants

ESPN sources: Giants All-Pro defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence has requested a trade and he will not be participating in the team’s off-season workout program that opens Tuesday.

Lawrence and the Giants have been through two off seasons attempting to negotiate a contract reflecting his value to the Giants over the last three years, but there has not been any progress, per sources.

I have a bunch of very in-depth thoughts on this tweet but lately I've been letting quotes of great 90s movies do my talking for me, so here is my take:

Look Dex, I understand how much it has absolutely SUCKED playing for the Giants for most of your time here. On the field, off the field, the actual field at MetLife itself. But everything is soooooooo close to turning around. The fact the Giants didn't completely bone the John Harbaugh negotiations was a sign things are actually changing around here (if not a minor miracle). To leave right as the franchise stops being an embarrassment at every level would be a horrible move for everyone. The Giants need you because despite last year's down season, there is still an All-Pro level defensive tackle that just needs to get healthy, as well as a little motivated.

Taking away a player of that magnitude in his late-20s from the front 7 would be a significant blow to a rushing defense that has essentially been a green light with one of those little gold Mario Kart mushrooms to opposing running games. You need the Giants because I truly believe they are more likely to be a solid team for the next few years than many of the options of teams that could potentially trade for you and give you the extension you desire. Plus from a selfish point of view, I need you to stay here because I can't handle you asking to come back to the Giants well past your prime like OBJ and JPP are currently doing, which will obviously result in a #BringSexyDexyBack campaign by Giants fans stuck in the past because of how bad the present and future look.

Which is why I kindly ask Joe Schoen to find whatever manhood John Harbaugh has left him with and bang out an extension that works for both sides since I'm already worried enough about the trenches right now.
