Pulling April's Fools Jokes Before Or After April 1st Should Be Against The Law
Imgorthand. Getty Images.So this tweet came across my desk a few days ago and I joined the endless stream of people that reacted accordingly to such a massive announcement.
Then I started getting replies to check my calendar and how this was an April Fool's joke, which I thought was kind of weird because, y'know, IT WASN'T APRIL FOOL'S DAY! Hell, it wasn't even April in any part of the planet. It was March 30th, or mayyyyyybe March 31st if you lived in the Land of the Rising Sun or anywhere else that gets a jump on the rest of the world because of your time zone.
So I figured perhaps the people who claimed it was an April Fool's joke simply couldn't comprehend living in a world with a Buncha Crunch dispenser at the movie theater.
Turns out those people were dead on balls accurate (It's an industry term).
I mean, what the fuck are we doing here Nestle? I'm not one of those hardos that hates on April Fool's Day or a well-placed prank. But making up fake news on random days of the year so you can pay it off to make your brand go viral on April 1st is how the fabric of a civilized society tears apart at the seams. I refused to even respond with a candy bar emoji despite my inner and outer fat kid quite literally dying for this contraption to be made. But at some point, a man got to have a code. Omar said that in The Wire, so you know it's true.
Not only did Nestle pull this stunt with Buncha Crunch, but they did it with Butterfinger as well, along with a couple of other brands I will not even waste my time mentioning.

Again, if you told me this was a scheduling error or something done a few hours early to mess with people in a different time zone halfway around the world, I could understand. But pulling April Fool's jokes on days that are not April Fool's Day is spitting in the face of everything mankind has built to make our civilization king of the planet. Gotcha culture is bad enough these days. But it has no place changing the rules we have built as a species to allow a little bit of gotcha culture to keep everyone on their toes.
The only person that is allowed to bend these imaginary rules of man is Cardale Jones because the entire May Fool's Saga of 2015 was so goddamn preposterous.
