“Sell the Team” Dave And Every Other Red Sox Fan Should Be Pissed At John Henry For The Team's Pathetic 1-4 Start

To be fair, this is not Dave's first rodeo when it comes to going after Red Sox owner John Henry. 

When the Red Sox failed to bring back Alex Bregman (lowballed him, said he had no other offers, would not offer a no-trade clause, just a master-class in how to not handle a top free agent), Dave went all in on Henry on Wake Up Barstool, calling for him to sell the team. 

And he's not wrong. As the team's total revenues have gone up, they have spent LESS of that money on the team 

Henry has tried to turn the Sox into a mid-market team with some of the moves the team has made. 

Five games into 2026, the Red Sox are 1-4, losers of four straight since an Opening Day win. 

They have suffered two pathetic losses in Houston, 8-1 and 9-2. They have looked lifeless. 

Craig Breslow said the team needed an impact bat this offseason. When that proved too expensive for the Red Sox budget, they pivoted to pitching and defense. Operation Run Prevention. 

How's that going? 

Runs scored — 11 total (25th in MLB) — Can't score runs to save their lives

Home runs allowed — 7 (26thin MLB) — Pitchers have been getting lit up, save Crochet and a few others. 

The defense?

Not great! What the hell was Bello trying to do here? Also, not an awesome throw from Mayer. 

There'll be a good portion of the fanbase that will say it's early, it's only April 1st, blah blah blah. But if you're like me, and have spent all offseason shitting on the plan to bail on the big bat and focus on pitching and defense, you're allowed to rub the team's faces in it right now, Breslow and Henry especially. 

If you're not mad, I'd love to hear why in the comments. How would you defend this other than, "It's still early" 

Breslow will be booed when he's introduced Friday at Fenway- at least he should be. The team he built is worthy of booing, too. 

I'd say Henry would be booed, too, but no way he takes the field. He'll be back in hiding. Look at these two. Hope they're happy with the result on the field. 

Dave's not. Hoogdale's not. I'm not. And based on social media, 1000s of Sox fans are also not. 

Brutal.
