Boy were quotes like that easy for me to hate on when it was Bill Belichick, or Nick Saban leading a team I was sick and tired of. There was probably a time in my life (let's call it 2017-ish) when I uttered words like, "Fuck playing for the Patriots. I wouldn't want to deal with that asshole. At least let me have some fun."

But the minute my Indiana Hoosiers get hot under Curt Cignetti, and he's chewing out starters on the sideline, and refusing to crack a smile despite being up 5 scores in the 4th quarter.

Let's just say I started to look at "hard ass" coaches a little differently. When you go so long without winning, it's easy to forget that the fun of winning trumps all else. No matter how fun and shiny the gold cleats are. 

Anyways, if you thought Curt Cignetti was about to get soft on his top talent now that Indiana Football can actually get some of it...... well if that's ever going to happen, it'll have to be for a player better than Nick Marsh. All things considered, that's a pretty high bar. 

If anything, Indiana winning a National Championship only created more of a monster. If Curt Cignetti had ANY doubts about the way he coached his players (which I highly doubt he ever did), he certainly has no reason to question himself now. He just won a National Championship with a roster full of 3-stars. Curt Cignetti has zero qualms about reading Nick Marsh the riot act, because after last season, he doesn't just think, he knows he can win at the highest level with or without him. 

But poor Michigan State. Nick Marsh is the one who got his "ass ripped" today, but Sparty took the brunt of that quote. Way to kick them while they're down, Curt. It's bad enough you took their best player. It's bad enough Michigan State has been a complete joke since making Mel Tucker one of the highest paid coaches in college football in 2021. Was it really necessary to insult the way Nick Marsh was coached on top of everything else? 

Just kidding. Of course it was. The more unsolicited insults Curt Cignetti fires at Big Ten opponents the better. It's sure been working so far. 

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Welcome to Bloomington, Nick Marsh. You're going to LOVE central Indiana. Make Antwaan Randle El proud.
