Chappell Roan's Security Allegedly Made An 11-Year-Old Girl Cry For The Crime Of Smiling At Her And Somehow This Is The FOURTH Worst Interaction She's Had With Normal Humans This Year

Yahoo News- Catherine Harding, the mother of Jude Law’s 11-year-old daughter, Ada — who was allegedly left in tears after a nasty encounter with Chappell Roan’s security — has spoken out to give her side of the story.

Harding’s husband, Brazilian soccer star Jorginho Frello, blasted Roan on Saturday after he claimed the singer’s security guard confronted his stepdaughter and wife aggressively at a hotel in São Paulo, Brazil. Frello claimed Ada did not approach or ask Roan for anything before the encounter, but simply walked past her table to confirm it was the singer, since she was a fan.

After getting heat, Roan said in an Instagram video that the security guard was not part of her personal security and that she was never approached by Ada and Harding.

Harding took to Instagram Sunday to share her side of the story after she said she received a lot of messages asking if Frello’s story was true. Harding cast doubt on Roan’s claims, saying that she knew the security guard was not part of hotel security, but rather, was someone who “looks after artists.”

“Did she send him to do it? Again, I don’t know,” she said. “Look, I would like to hope not, but at the same time, I think that you have a responsibility when you are a celebrity to make sure, I guess, that the people who work for you and act on your behalf are acting on your behalf.”

“So would he do that if he didn’t have that authority to do so? I don’t know,” she continued. “If he does then obviously that’s a big problem because then he’s representing her in a way she doesn’t want to be represented.”

Harding said Ada didn’t have a phone with her, didn’t take a picture and didn’t approach Roan during the encounter.

“She literally did not do anything, she just looked at her…she came back and said ‘Mum I don’t know if it’s her.’ Because obviously she looked like…her costumes and everything…she looks a little bit different,” she recalled.

Harding said they continued to eat breakfast, but then a security guard with a “very aggressive tone” confronted them.

“Even if [Roan] did send him or she didn’t send him, I don’t know, for me it felt like it really overstepped a boundary,” she said.

According to Harding, the security guard berated them and told her that she should teach her daughter to be better and to respect people’s privacy. Harding said she tried to explain that Ada was a child and was just excited to see a a singer she admired.

I'm gonna say the thing that apparently nobody in the music industry is allowed to say anymore because we're all supposed to pretend that a 28-year-old pop star who spent a decade BEGGING the world to pay attention to her is somehow the victim when an 11-year-old girl smiles at her during breakfast.

Chappell Roan, and these famous people who love to act like victims and bitch and moan about "the price of fame" suck. Plain and simple. 

Chappell Roan was in Brazil for Lollapalooza this weekend. 

Soccer star Jorginho's daughter, who is ELEVEN YEARS OLD, was staying at the same hotel. 

And she also happens to be obsessed with her and a massive fan of Roan's. 

As a pop star, she is in your dream demographic as a fan. 

So this poor little girl spots Chappell at breakfast. Doesn't approach. She wasn't teh least bit rude. Didn't ask for a photo. Doesn't say a single word. 

She simple walked past the table, confirmed it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mom. That was it. 

That was her crime. 

A child smiled in the direction of a famous person.

Next thing you know, a security guard allegedly rolled up on this little girl talking about "disrespect" and "harassment" and threatening to report her to the hotel. 

The kid burst into tears. 

Her father, who has 5 million followers and plays professional soccer, put the whole thing on blast,

and now the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro has literally banned Chappell Roan from performing in his city. A sitting government official said "as long as I'm in charge, this woman is not performing here." 

That is a WILD sentence to be reading about a pop star in the year 2026.

Chappell went on her own Instagram story, lying in bed, saying the security guard wasn't her personal security and she didn't even see the girl.

Fine. 

Maybe that's true. 

Maybe some overzealous event security guy took it upon himself to be a hero. 

Let's all give her a pass on that one in isolation. 

But here's the problem. You don't get the benefit of the doubt on incident number 47. 

You just don't.

This is the same artist who told a photographer to "shut the fuck up" on the VMAs red carpet.

A red carpet at an awards show. Pretty common place for photographers to gather to shoot pictures of celebrities walking into said awards show. 

The same artist who confronted a different photographer at the Olivia Rodrigo premiere demanding an apology.

Same artist who filmed paparazzi in Paris two weeks ago like she was documenting a war crime because people with cameras were standing near a restaurant photographing her.

Same artist who went on Call Her Daddy and openly said "I think people are scared of me" like that was a victory or some shit she should be proud of. 

And that's the part I genuinely cannot wrap my brain around. 

She said that like it was a legit good thing. She has successfully terrified her own fanbase into not speaking to her, and she's proud of it.

People who love your music and are obsessed with you, are now afraid to make eye contact with you at a hotel breakfast buffet.

Mission accomplished, I guess?

And the most fucked up part about this whole thing is that Chappell Roan spent YEARS fucking grinding. 

She spent years playing to half-empty rooms and watching other artists blow up while she was stuck in no-mans land being an unknown. 

She has talked openly and at length about how hard the climb was, how long it took, how badly she wanted it.

And I respect that grind. Genuinely. 

She dropped her first album School Nights way back in 2017 and it went nowhere.

She switched up her sound, went back to the drawing board, moved to LA, and started working with the famed Dan Nigro and in 2020 she dropped her follow up. The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess sat there collecting dust for almost a full year before the world caught on to it and it blew up. She earned her fame 100%.

But you just simply cannot spend a decade clawing your way to the top of the mountain and then get mad at the people standing at the summit waiting to shake your hand. 

That's not how any of this shit works. 

You don't get to campaign for the job and then complain about the responsibilities. 

And you certainly don't get to spend years praying for people to care about you and then punish them when they do.

Michael Jackson had to fucking build Neverland because he literally could not exist in normal society. He was the most famous human being on the planet for two consecutive decades. 

Chappell Roan won Best New Artist fourteen months ago. 

There's a big difference. A pretty massive one, actually.

But it appears she loves this shit -

The people you see on the way up are the same people you see on the way down. 

That's not empty words, or horseshit either, it's just how the music industry works. It's how literally every industry works. 

The fans who discovered you in a 200-cap venue and told their friends about you and streamed your album on repeat until the algorithm caught on, those are the same people who are going to decide in two years whether they still care. And right now, Chappell Roan is speedrunning the process of making them not care.

Noah Kahan jumped in to defend her about the paparazzi, and that's fine, paparazzi culture is invasive, psychotic, and gross.

Nobody's arguing that. But a kid smiling at you over scrambled eggs is not paparazzi culture. That's just being a human being in a hotel. If you can't handle that, the problem isn't the public, the problem is you.

Talent doesn't give you a lifetime pass to treat people like threats, and fame doesn't come with a terms-of-service agreement where the fans agree to pretend you don't exist.

You wanted this, and now you got it so you have to deal with it. Those are the rules.
