Former Oregon State Player Tres Tinkle Called Out The AD For Telling The Current Team To Focus On The Transfer Portal Before They Played In The WCC Tournament

It's not exactly a huge deal that Wayne Tinkle got fired at Oregon State. The man is a good coach, one of the more entertaining guys out there but it was time for a split. 

No harm there. But, it's what happened last night, when Oregon State lost to Gonzaga and Tinkle's time ended that is drawing a lot of eyes. 

Yeah, that'll do it. Look, it's not a secret that a bunch of them will probably be in the transfer portal. It's the new era. But you may want to keep a team together. That seems like the smart thing to do. Teams across the country that are doing well keep a core together. It doesn't help that Oregon State is in this weird area where they got screwed with conference realignment and then went to the WCC but also the new Pac-12 is starting next year. 

I know people will say this is just a son who is pissed about his dad. Probably true to a degree, but Tres also played for Oregon State. He's a guy connected with the program, cares about the program, so that's also very true. At some point you can't just blame players for hitting the transfer portal when stories like this come out. It's starting to become a bit of a two-way deal with guys getting somewhat forced out and all that stuff.

Don't hate this from Tres either. If you saw something, get pissed at something, call it out. There's not enough loyalty in college sports right now so why not? Wayne and Oregon State will always have that ridiculous run to the Elite Eight in 2021. Still can't believe that actually happened. Then again nothing in 2020 and 2021 was real.
