Indiana Hoosiers Guard/Good Guy Lamar Wilkerson Bought His Mom A Cadillac Escalade For Senior Night
Senior night is so incredibly not what it used to be. For the longest time, it was predominantly a celebration of players who spent their college basketball careers playing for one team. The university would thank their seniors for 4 years hard work and sacrifice to their school. The seniors were given some sort of sentimental gift that was benign enough to not be considered an impressible benefit by the NCAA. Then some flowers to thank their parents for a lifetime's worth of dedication to their athletic careers before they move on to bigger and better things like working a desk at Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
But Indiana doesn't have any 4 year seniors. They barely have any players who've lived in Bloomington for more than a year. And despite yet another disappointing season that once again has Indiana firmly on the bubble in early March, their leading scorer Lamar Wilkerson has already made life changing money for his family. So on senior night, on top of gifting his mother a university issued bouquet of flowers + framed jersey, he also bought her a Cadillac Escalade.
What a successful Senior Night for Lamar Wilkerson. He helped lead Indiana to a much needed 30-point win over Minnesota. The Hoosiers are now "Last Four In" the NCAA Tournament according to lying grifter Joe Lunardi.
And his family is +1 Cadillac Escalade. He only had to spend a fraction of his $2M+ NIL package to do it. What a heartwarming gesture. What a nice thing for a son to do for his mother. Who could possibly hate on something like that?
Jesus, guys. Is a kid not allowed to spoil his mother anymore? Do we no longer understand the concept of gifts? They're not supposed to be sound investments. Maybe Lamar Wilkerson isn't poised to have an illustrious 15-year NBA career. But he made millions of dollars playing college basketball. It's ok to splurge a bit on a gift for your mom. Like this woman doesn't deserve the car of her dreams.

SI – Kizzy drove Lamar two-and-a-half hours each way to Conway, Ark., for AAU practices and games in his 10th grade summer. She worked three jobs to help support the family and instilled loyalty, dedication and work ethic into Lamar. She drove him to get his first tattoos. She always provided and made sure Lamar had all he needed.
When nobody else believed in Lamar’s future, Kizzy did. When Lamar needed a shoulder to cry on, Kizzy offered hers.
Lamar returned the favor Wednesday night.
“She means everything to me,” Lamar said. “Without my momma, I wouldn't be here right now. She gave birth to me. She gave me life — that says enough — but not even that, though.
“When she gave me life, she didn't have to love me, she didn't have to sacrifice her life to help me get to where I wanted to be, man. She’s one of them ones.”
Good stuff Lamar Wilkerson. Well deserved. Indiana's basketball season has been frustrating in many ways, but it sure as hell isn't Lamar's fault. 21 PPG on 46% shooting is perfectly efficient for a guard in the Big Ten. If this winds up being the peak of his basketball playing career, I can't think of a better way to celebrate it than by using the money his basketball talents have earned him to make his mom the happiest mom in the world.
