Netflix Has A New Reality Dating Show Where Singles Meet And Have No Clue Of Eachother's Age And It Looks Phenomenal
Let me be one of the first to say inject this show directly into my veins. I know what some of you may be thinking. Karim, you AI bot, I'm 40 years old, I don't have time to be watching reality slop on Netflix in between midmajor college basketball games and my 16th rerun of The Sopranos. I get it. But anyone with a girlfriend or a wife firmly knows that when she's in the mood for reality slop, you're watching it and saying nothing.
Shows like this are perfect to just turn on and let her watch while you scroll Twitter and see whatever that damn algorithm has in store for you at that moment. That being said, we're sorta at a crossroads with reality dating shows. If you don't come up with an entirely new concept, chances are it's already been done. Love is blind with partners not being able to see eachother? Done. Too hot to handle with a bunch of "sexy singles" with sex addiction that can't see themselves not fucking for a few weeks while they live on a resort island? Done. The ultimatum where you need to propose and live a long fulfilling life after meeting someone and immediately deciding if you want to be with them forever? Done.
So call me crazy but a concept where you don't know the other person's age might have some legs to it. I wouldn't be shocked if we had a 60 year old on here that looks 35 and she's talking to some 30 year old who now has someone as old as their mother as their partner. Talk about an electric factory! Besides, age gaps are widely accepted in society these days, just ask a fella like Bill Belichick or you can use your imagination for anyone else.
I wish I could see what people's reactions on Twitter are, but they're just a bunch of bot comments, so I guess I'll come back next Wednesday after the first episode and see what they are then. Good luck out there.
