The Guardians Being 28th In Spending ($8 Million) After Back-To-Back AL Central Titles Is DISGUSTING

There's no organization in sports that I have more of a Love / Hate Relationship with than the Cleveland Guardians. Mostly because my other two main teams are either all love (Ohio State) or all hate (the Browns). But if I've said it once, I've said it a million times: baseball is my favorite sport. And the fact that Cleveland consistently finds themselves in the thick of things, even having won the last two AL Central Division Titles, without spending a dime makes me love them....and hate them....even more.

Here's my issue: how the fuck can you watch this team erase a 15.5 game Tigers lead, including a 10 game lead as late as September 6th, and bring an entire city together once again to fill your ballpark down the stretch and into the playoffs, and not be willing to spend any money on making them better? Because a blind man can see this issues with this roster and it's been the same for a while now: we lack offensive consistency, especially power hitting. I'm not asking us to go out and spend $300 million on a top of the line Ace, although that would be pretty nice seeing as Carl Willis consistently churns out great staff after great staff without really ever having the top guys in the league. And I'm not even asking us to be key players in the biggest free agent bats of the offseason, although it would rally the fanbase unlike anything else possibly could. No, all I'm asking is that when your team is coming off back to back AL Central Championships and returns a solid pitching staff and some cornerstone players like Jose Ramirez and Steven Kwan, all I ask is that you spend a few dollars to bolster a couple of the holes in our roster. And what do we get? To be 28th in spending in the entire fucking sport.

It's an absolute disgrace that we have the pieces to be a World Series contender, but our ownership refuses to go finish the puzzle. The Tigers see their championship window and went out and spent $180 in the offseason to try and get a ring. What's the difference between Detroit and Cleveland? How are they spending more than 20x more than us in the offseason? Because their ownership cares and ours does not. And that stinks. Because our fans really do.
