The Edina Hornets Scored One Of The Stupidest Goals You'll Ever See To Help Advance To Their 5th Straight Minnesota High School Hockey State Championship

SI – For the fourth consecutive season, the Edina Hornets and the Wayzata Trojans stood single file along opposite blue lines to accept their medals at the conclusion of the Section 6AA championship game.

For the fourth consecutive season, Edina accepted the first place medals

Poor Wayzata Trojans. Poor seniors who have to face the Edina Hornets every fucking year for a chance to play in the Minnesota High School Hockey State Tournament.

Scores of the last 4 Section 6AA Championships (winner goes to states):

2023 – Edina 2, Wayzata 1

2024 – Edina 4, Wayzata 1

2025 – Edina 4, Wayzata 1

2026 – Edina 3, Wayzata 1

So close. Every year, Wayzata comes so fucking close to having their haircuts judged on the biggest stage.

Wayzata took a 1-0 in this year's Section 6AA Championship too. But if there was ever a serious thought that maybe just once it wouldn't be the Edina Hornets year, that thought went out the window when Edina scored this bat shit stupid goal to tie things up in the 2nd period.

Brutal. Might as well just call game right there. You're not winning when the hockey gods hate you enough to give you a bounce like that. For the 4th straight year, Wayzata comes up one game short. The Edina player who scored that goal, Bode McConnell, went on to score two more. He put up a hat trick in a 3-1 win to earn the Fighting Chef Donny's their 44th trip to states.

It doesn't get much better than that. Time to find yourself a stylist and an industrial sized bucket of bleach. Edina is heading to the state championships once again. Better luck next year any other team in Section 6AA.
