"I'm Getting Fucked Up Tonight" - Vincent Trocheck" - All Of America After USA Hockey Wins Gold At The Olympics
If I were a GM of an NHL team that had anybody on Team USA's roster, I would just go ahead and assume none of these guys are going to be fit to play for at least a couple weeks. I know they're all hockey players, and I know they could find a way to play while being drunk off their ass. But these boys have earned the right to celebrate the shit out of this one.
The first gold medal for men's hockey at the Olympics since 1980. The first time anyone on this roster has been alive for a USA gold medal. The Miracle on Ice has been such a major moment for American hockey history. And it's not that this win takes anything away from that, but it's just the fact that it's no longer the pinnacle of success for American hockey anymore. It no longer takes a "miracle" for USA hockey to win gold at the Olympics. It's still a part of USA Hockey's lore for eternity, but it's no longer THE moment.
It's crazy to think about. Nobody will ever have to watch that movie again and think to themselves, "man, I can't wait to see USA win gold again one of these days". Because the boys just made it happen today. They went to Italy, they took care of business, and they changed the trajectory of USA Hockey forever.
They had their chance in 2002. They were one goal away in 2010. They won a pointless shootout in 2014. Today, they got the job done. Every single one of these guys deserves to get fucked up. If they have a hangover until the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, then so be it.
