WATCH: The First Trailer For 'Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man'

Birmingham, 1940. Amidst the chaos of World War II, Tommy Shelby is driven back from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet. With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must face his own demons, and choose whether to confront his legacy, or burn it to the ground.

When this movie was first announced, I was a little wary. 'Peaky Blinders' is a phenomenal series but I don't love how it wrapped up an there are a lot of series that have tried this post-finale movie idea and failed. I'm not even sure what the goalposts would be. Maybe 'Deadwood'?

All that hesitation went out the window after seeing this trailer. It has all the same energy of the early seasons of the show plus some incredible additions to the cast. Barry Keoghan(The Banshees of Inisherin, Dunkirk) is playing Tommy Shelby's son, Tim Roth (Rob Roy, Pulp Fiction) looks to be playing some sort of spy for the Nazis and the great Rebecca Ferguson looks to be some sort of Shelby family associate. Stephen Graham is also returning which is tremendous news.

Tom Harper returned to direct and Steven Knight, who is about to be a very busy man writing Denis Villeneuve's James Bond, returned to direct.  All the pieces are in play for this to be a solid movie! But the question is will this be more like the beginning or the end of the series. Qualitatively speaking, anyway.
