Steph Curry And Damian Lillard Are Forming The Avengers (Shooters Edition) For Next Year's 3-Point Contest

In what was perhaps the upset of the century, the NBA's All Star Weekend wasn't a complete disaster. Dare I say, it was actually pretty good? The game last night was great and Saturday gave us some good moments, so all in all given what we've seen recently, I'd say overall it was better than I expected.

One thing that you know will always deliver ever All Star weekend is the 3PT shooting contest. There are few things better than watching the best shooters on planet Earth take wide open uncontested 3PA. Elite shooting will always play, and this year was no different

Unlike the Dunk Contest, what's great about the 3PT Contest is that the stars will actually participate. While this year's group had a few elite shooters, imagine a world where we got the Avengers (shooters edition) for next year's contest?

Now this is what I'm talking about! Steph, Dame, Klay, and Devin Booker are a great first four. I love how Steph knows Klay is down for whatever and absolutely can't say no to him, and with the game being played in Phoenix next year, that just makes too much sense to have Booker do it again. If I could make a few recommendations for the next four so we can truly have one of the greatest 3PT Contests of all time, may I suggest:

- Sam Hauser (lifetime 40% 3PT shooter)

- Trey Murphy III (should have been invited this year)

- Anthony Edwards (no brainer)

- Kon Knueppel (no brainer)

Tell me that's not an absolutely stacked field: Steph, Dame, Klay, Booker, Hauser, Murphy, Ant, Knueppel

You're watching the shit out of that. I can't imagine that second group of 4 would take all that much convincing, so this feels like a win/win for everyone involved. Now, we did get something like this when it came to the Dunk Contest last year when everyone was freaking out about Mac McClung. You may remember Ja and Giannis talking about doing it. Obviously, that didn't exactly happen in 2026 with both players injured, but I also doubt they would have done it anyway.

But the 3PT Contest? Very different. If Steph says he's in, everyone else will too. That's the power Steph Curry has. Who knows, it could be the last one we ever see Steph participate in, and you're going to turn that down if asked? No chance. That's why there's real potential here compared to the fake hype of the Dunk Contest last year.

So consider me in. The last time we got the Avengers together, Team USA won Gold. I'll take a variant of that for the 3PT Contest next year, and let the best shooter win. Who knew that between the All Star Game being back and now a potential all time 3PT Contest on the table, that All Star Weekend would be on the upswing like this? Talk about a prayer.

Oh, and if you need a reminder of Steph's 3PT Contest days, enjoy. Pretty good shooter imo
