'The Exact Same Fucking Play' - Doug Gottlieb Was Slamming Tables, Fighting The Mic And Calling Out Refs In An Incredible Postgame Rant

I know it's easy to shit on Doug Gottlieb. But, when you do something like this and go after refs, you win me over. You get my support for at least a day, maybe a week. Now, I don't have a ton of video here to show you because, well, it was Green Bay vs Milwaukee. Not like there's a ton of clips out there showing foul calls in that sort of game.

But this? The table slam is one of the best I've seen. I love it. That's the sort of coaching behavior I want. I want a guy who is willing to demand answers from the new commissioner, losing his mind on a table and fighting the mic. Pretty incredible how he went from cool and collected to smashing that table. That's how you get a point across. It's the only way to show that you care.

I will say this, the foul disparity was absurd so Gottlieb be onto something here. 37-18 free throw splits in a game decided by 3 points. Yeah, I'd be losing my mind too.

This is the play, at least in written form, that Gottlieb is talking about:

[Source] - With his team trailing by a point in the final seconds Sunday, Green Bay's Preston Ruedinger drove to the basket, where Milwaukee's Stevie Elam ripped the ball out of his hands. Elam was fouled and sank two free throws to extend his team's lead and seal the win.

Gottlieb said a foul should've been called on that play, in part because Ruedinger was called for a foul on Milwaukee's Amar Augillard with 24 seconds to play in what Gottlieb called "the same play."

And some of the mid-major guys on Twitter seem to agree with him. That's enough for me to blindly agree. My point is bigger though. We need more coaches to call out refs. It's a massive problem in college basketball. There's no consistency, you don't know how they are going to call a game let alone the difference from half to half. Slam a few tables, who cares, it's worth it. Best part? The commissioner he's demanding answers from? Yeah, she just got that job on Thursday. Hell of a time to start.
