Kansas State Is Reportedly Trying To Get Out Of Paying Jerome Tang $19 Million, Claiming His Rant About His Team Embarrassed The University
Not exactly a big deal that Jerome Tang got fired from Kansas State. They are a bad team, they are a bad program and he's a whatever coach. He had the run to the Elite Eight in the first season, seemed like a breakout guy but can't figure out how to make a roster. So getting fired after starting 1-11 in the Big 12, no big deal. Some say this was the moment where it all started to go downhill:
Kansas State however is trying to get out of $19 million by saying this was too embarrassing and a reason for getting fired:
It's all posturing just so they can get a lower buyout. But welcome to college sports. If you get an absurd contract, you get paid that contract. The AD, boosters, all those people paying it shouldn't get rewarded because they made a bad deal. No one told you to give Tang that sort of job. He could have left for Arkansas, maybe, or something along those lines. Instead you paid him and now you're here.
We're in the NIL era. You should be able to say your team is embarrassing, even if you're the one who put the roster together. Both things can be true. You can say these guys stink, they should be embarrassed to be here and then also get fired.
