The Live-Action 'God Of War' Cast Is Getting My Hopes Up
ICYMI, Amazon Prime is doing a live-action adaptation of one of the great video game franchises ever in 'God of War'.
If you told me this was happening a few years ago, I'd be worried as all hell. Video game adaptations were almost always guaranteed to fail and studios never seemed willing to invest the time and care it took to make them correctly. However, there has been hope as both 'The Last of Us' and 'Fallout' gave us at least 1 fantastic season of work. Specifically with TLOU, it showed that you can take what is already an incredibly cinematic game and not make it feel redundant. And GOW follows a similar basis as those two shows as well (Gruff, worn-down-by-the-world elder escorts young person to location).
This series is going to to be set in the Norse era of the games and here is what the main cast is looking like right now.

Ryan Hurst(Remember the Titans, Sons of Anarchy) is a fantastic choice for Kratos and also voiced Thor in the games. The same goes for Ólafur Darri Ólafsson(Severence) as his replacement for the Norse god of thunder. Patinkin(The Princess Bride, Homeland) is also a really solid pick for Odin, although I wonder what Richard Schiff (his voice actor) was up to that he wasn't able to reprise the role. In addition these four, the series has cast Max Parker (Boots) as Heimdall, Alastair Duncan(his voice actor) and Danny Woodburn(Seinfeld, Watchmen)/Jeff Gulka(The X-Files) as the brothers Brok and Sindri.
On the backend, the showrunner is Ronald D. Moore. He's had a solid career in TV, producing 'Deep Space Nine', 'Battlestar Galactica', 'Outlander' and 'For All Mankind'.
There is always a risk that an adapatation like this goes the way of 'Halo' but I'm choosing to be optimistic on this one.
