Welcome Back: Scott Drew Took Another Shot At Rob Wright Leaving For BYU After Signing A Contract With Baylor, Wants Fans Fired Up For Tonight's Game
This isn't the first time Scott Drew brought this up:
I have no problem with this from Scott Drew either. It should be a binding deal. If you sign a contract, you don't get to leave for a place that'll give you more money. You made the decision, you're still getting paid, you're there for the length of the contract. It's the world we live in with college sports right now. There's tampering all over the place, NIL contracts, money being thrown around and transferring. It sucks that you don't get to build a team and see these guys turn into 3-4 year players more often than not.
But this is what coaches should do. If college sports is going to operate similar to a pro league, you call out people directly for breaking contracts. It also doesn't help that Baylor stinks this year, they banked on building around Rob Wright and passed on some other guys because of Wright. Now he's coming back. Yeah, get the fans fired up. Make it a real home court advantage and try to prove a point. That stuff is all good for the sport. Drew is doing it right too. Be intimidating, don't cross the line, just a reminder though that their starting point guard left us for BYU.
The only way there's going to be some sort of resolution to all of this is if coaches keep speaking up. Dabo called out Ole Miss. We have Scott Drew not throwing a shot at Rob Wright/BYU. All fair game. All fair play. Now we see the return tonight. Baylor might suck, but it's going to be loud in there the first time Wright touches the ball.
