In Puka Nacua's Defense, He Was Probably Hammered Drunk When He Tweeted That Thing About Sam Darnold

As the Super Bowl came to a close Sunday evening, Rams star wide receiver Puka Nacua tweeted, '*crying laughing face emoji* Sam Darnold'. People did not take too kindly it. People including Seattle Seahawks' linebacker/Super Bowl Champion Ernest Jones.

Sure, Sam Darnold may have not had the best Super Bowl performance, but he sure did beat the hell out of the Rams to get there. "LOL Sam Darnold" sent Puka Nacua home packing to the tune of 346 yards & 3 TD's. Puka Nacua has no right to besmirch Darnold's name from the seat of his couch. Unlike myself (and people with burner accounts on Twitter), who can rightfully take shots at NFL players, as we've never been personally defeated by them in a game of football.

But in defense of Puka Nacua's tweet, people very hastily jumped to conclusions regarding what he meant by 'crying laughing emoji Sam Darnold'.

We all assumed he meant, "HAHAHAHAHAHA look at this piece of shit quarterback Sam Darnold how the HELL is this NOBODY winning a SUPER BOWL".

But that might not be what Puka Nacua meant at all. Maybe he meant… fuck idk… maybe he thought Sam Darnold did something funny on the field. Maybe he had just recalled a hilarious joke Sam Darnold told him earlier this season. Or maybe he thought the crying laughing face emoji was a tears of joy emoji, and Puka Nacua was overcome with emotion to see a division rival succeed on the biggest stage. Perhaps there's a language barrier there that we don't realize. Idk I don't speak Samoan.

Or maybe Puka Nacua means exactly what everybody thinks he means, and got a little cocky on Twitter because he was drunk off his ass at a Super Bowl party.

That drunk guy right there… is really, REALLY fucking good at playing wide receiver.

But boy does he become unlikable to A LOT of people when he opens his mouth. Puka Nacua has everything going for him in the likability department too. He's an underdog story out of BYU who was drafted in the 5th round. He quickly became one the best receivers in football. He has an exceptionally fun name, which always goes a long way with fans. And I won't sugar coat it, the man is Polynesian. You don't too often see Polynesian players succeed at wide receiver. Whenever a player breaks a mold like that, and makes plays like this, he's liable to become a fan favorite.

Puka Nacua is a unique talent. When he first burst onto the scene, fans of all teams across the NFL loved the guy. And I'm sure he's still a fan favorite to many Los Angeles Rams fans. However many of them exist. Which according to Puka Nacua, is not too many.

I can't speak for everyone. But recently, every time Puka Nacua post on social media, or opens his mouth on a live stream, it seems to make people like him less and less.

Anytime you find yourself in a corner with Adin Ross, you're probably not going to win in the court of public opinion. Beyond that incident, Puka Nacua has never done anything terrible. It's just a lot of little dumb moments that slowly chip away at his Q-Score.

So thanks to all that, when Puka Nacua tweets this:

People assume he means the worst. But hey, who among us hasn't had a few too many and tweeted some passive aggressive shit about a quarterback. I know I have. So keep up the good work on the field Puka. But for the sake of your career, it might serve you to be a little less… public. I can't help but think that Puka Nacua is at any given time about 10 drinks away from doing real damage to his career. But again, who amongst us isn't?
