Brutal: We Got Video Of A Security Guard Dropping A Chair In Hideki Matsuyama's Swing, Hit The Next Shot Into The Water And Lost The Waste Management
I love the Waste Management going right into the Super Bowl every year. We know about 16 and all the shit that happens there, but the Waste Management delivers every single year. There's always drama, we get playoffs a lot and that was no different yesterday. Hideki couldn't hit a fairway, somehow still had the lead and just needed to play 17 and 18 at par to win. Barely missed a birdie putt on 17 and then on 18 hit the lip of the bunker, leading to a bogey and the real story:
The real story is Hideki having to back off his tee shot in the playoff and then hit it into the water. We thought it was a fan yelling or something like that. Nope, we have video now of a security guard dropping a chair as he went to swing:

Even more brutal was this on 18 with a chance to win:
Incredible backoffs, but what the fuck are we doing here? I'm all for having noise and being a different event, but you can't be yelling in backswings of putts to win. You can't be dropping a chair, even if it's on accident. Gotterup's story is awesome and he played damn good, obviously, but Hideki has a legit reason to be pissed here. I know, I know. He should have hit a fairway or two during the round. He could have saved himself, but either you drop a chair/yell for everyone all the time or not.
Brutal. You could make a legit case that this is a $680,000 chair drop. That's basically the difference in winning vs 2nd place here.
PS: This had to be the power of Mintzy right?
