Let's See Lindsey Vonn Do This Shit
I don't understand ACL's at all. Sometimes they'll render an athlete out 12 months. Sometimes at the end of the season you'll learn your quarterback was actually playing on a torn ACL all season.
I suppose it all comes down to the severity of the tear. Come to think of it, I guess that makes perfect sense. Although Lindsey Vonn's ACL is 100% ruptured. Whatever. Regardless, I find what Lindsey Vonn is doing this Olympics to be quite impressive. But let's see Lindsey Vonn and her ruptured ACL do this.
Lindsey Vonn should take notes. If her ACL gets to a point where she thinks she can no longer put any weight on it, she can just go barreling down the mountain on one ski.
People who can contort their bodies mid-air on two skis are beyond impressive to me. I like to think I'm a pretty good skier. I like to hit jumps from time to time. But the second I'm in the air, if my skis start to turn at all I'm done for. My balance is completely thrown off, and there's no getting it back. Skis are so long and heavy. They feel so awkward beneath you. I can wrap my mind around people who do tricks on snowboards, skateboards, rollerblades, BMX bikes, etc. But to go that crazy mid-air on a pair of long heavy skis and get your body back into perfect landing position just seems impossible.
So to lose half your ski's mid-1080 while 30-feet in the sky… it would be impressive if he merely got out of there without breaking any body parts. But he landed the damn trick. Kinda fucked up how he only got second place for that.
That announcer is right, somebody has to try this on purpose now. I'm sure these freestyle skiers are always looking to come up with innovative new tricks. You can only spin and flip at so many different angles. But if you can loosen up a ski, kick one off mid-air, and stick the landing, that changes the game. Maybe someone can even find a way to kick off a ski, grab it with their hand, and re-attach it to their foot. This guy may have inadvertently revolutionized the sport of freestyle skiing.
