The Milwaukee Bucks Twitter Account Taking A Direct Shot At Shams Is Both Extremely Petty And Completely Fair Game

Obviously, the big news of NBA Trade Deadline Day was the decision by the Bucks to hold onto Giannis through the deadline. Maybe things change in the summer, maybe he stays. It's anyone's guess at this point.

But given all the "reporting" and "leaks" that have surrounded Giannis and the Bucks for years, primarily coming via Shams, you had to know that once it came out that Giannis was staying put, it was time for the Bucks to talk their shit and get their licks in

I look at it like this. If you're going to spend nearly 2 years trying to will a Giannis trade into existence to the point where you double, triple, quadruple, and quintuple down, including the most recent reporting being this

Giphy Images.

when the exact opposite happens and the team doesn't make the trade while the player is tweeting this

then I feel like it's completely fair game for the Bucks as an organization to punch back. Is it petty? Sure. Is there a potential situation where this could backfire if something happens and Giannis does end up being moved (remember, he still has to sign the extension)? I suppose, but whatever. Is it possible that some may think this is lame? Maybe, but to hell with those people.

You know what? After being fucked with for these last 2+ years, the Bucks and their fans get to take a swing. You get to talk your shit. At this moment in time, this is a gigantic win for Bucks fans, and seeing as how there haven't been too many wins on the actual basketball court this season, I say let them go nuts. You get to dance on graves today, the same way your graves would have been danced on had Giannis been moved.

What I can't wait to see is where does Shams go from here? What happens if there's actual Bucks news to report, who is going to believe him? Did he actually have the right info, but then the Bucks saw the offers and realized they were dogshit and changed course? Did Giannis have a change of heart and give them a commitment on his extension? I guess we'll never know. What we do know is that after pushing this so hard, it could not have ended up worse for Shams. That's tough.

It would never happen, but imagine Shams replied with a screenshot of a convo he had with a source that confirms everything he reported? That might be his only move at this point, and I'm not positive something like that even exists. Instead, Shams has to just take this on the chin. Add in all the flak he's also rightfully getting for his vague deadline tweets, and that's about as tough a Thursday as you can have.
