Kickoff Your Super Bowl Weekend With Our New Anthem, 'Gaye for Maye'
![]()
Every so often a song comes along that perfectly captures the spirit of the times in which it was written and recorded. The kind of music they put into movies decades later in order to establish time and place. "Johnny B. Goode" by Chuck Berry or "Hound Dog" by Elvis for the 1950s. "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" by the Beatles for the early '60s. Buffalo Springfield's "For What it's Worth" or "Fortunate Son" by Creedence for the Vietnam Era. "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees for Disco, and so on.
It's been a while since American music has produced such a transcendent and timeless song to capture the essence of the zeitgeist. But that dry spell in music and lyric creativity is over. This is what we'll remember the years 2025-26 for:
Lyrics:
Growing up,
Being a Pats fan was a thrill
From high school to Sub-dad,
Man crushes on Tom and Bill.
Big games
like Tuck Rule and 28 to 3
Brady tossin tuddies
To Gronk, Wes, Jules, and Randy
Stalwart defenses: Ty Law, Wilfork, and Brew-ski
And some Clutch kicks from Vinna-terry
The fellas from Foxborough fathered sports’ greatest dynasty.
Best chronicled by Thornton "Six Rings"
But like they say:
nothing gold can stay
As Tom left town…
To play for the other team.
We went limp with Mac
Felt like the end of the dream.
But then came a new humble hero
To save the day.
Restoring our glory.
And the Patriot Way
With the third pick in the 2024 draft,
The New England Patriots Select…
Now I’ve gone gay
For Drake Maye
So effing gay — for Drake Maye
New England is proudly gay
In a new Patriots dynasty way
For Drake Maye!
Like Drizzy he is
First name “Ever”
Last name “Greatest”
Watching him play
Reminds us of Brady’s playlist.
We used to have locker room talk.
From straight guys about Balls.
Tom said:
Some guys like 'em round,
Some guys like 'em thin,
some guys like 'em brand new,
some guys like old balls.
I mean, they're all different.
Belichick claimed:
The balls we practice with are as bad as they can be.
Wet, sticky, cold— and slippery!
But nothing more of a beauty
When Drake Diggs deep…
Or goes long to Boutte.
Now I’ve gone gay
For Drake Maye
So effing gay — for Drake Maye
New England is proudly gay
In a Dave Portnoy Barstool t-shirt way
For Drake Maye!
I don’t know what else there is to say.
My feelings get stronger
When I drink IPAs
Nothing like Subdads gabbin about love for great men.
Tom, Bill and now Drake.
We live in the land of Goats!
Now do me a favor — and cue the duckboats!
Now I’ve gone gay
For Drake Maye
So effing gay — for Drake Maye
New England is proudly gay
In a my wife is cool with way
For Drake Maye!
Gay for Drake Maye!
In a new Pats dynasty way.
I didn't want to interrupt the artists' flow by mentioning the shameless plug, but here's the Six Rings" in question [cha-CHING]. And I'm hoping a new title is in order.
And by way of giving credit where it's due, based on both the source X-post and the guy from Five for Fighting, these are the geniuses behind this creation:

And as I listen to it a 75th time, I feel like Salieri in Amadeus, reading Mozart's sheet music and weeping at how perfect every note is. Concluding it has to be the handiwork of God Himself.
So it's safe to say this is the song you'll be playing for your grandchildren to tell them what life was like for us. How things felt back when you were in your prime. How anything was possible. How bold people were inspired to do brave deeds in order to achieve great things. And how above all else, we weren't afraid to show love for a quarterback who has earned it.
Then, pull this shirt out of the drawer, put it on, play the song again, dance like no one is watching, and let those kids know how good we had it back in your day.
See you in San Fran. Go Pats.
