Brittany Mahomes, Christen Goff, Normani & More NFL Wives Hopped In Bikinis For The SI Swimsuit Issue To "Redefine What It Means To Be A WAG"

(Sports Illustrated) - What does being a WAG mean in today’s sports culture?

WAG, a recently popularized acronym for “Wives and Girlfriends” that refers to the partners of famous male athletes, is more than just a trendy descriptor. It’s a dynamic way of life for these six women, who are redefining success and proudly taking the spotlight for themselves in SI Swimsuit’s February 2026 digital issue.

Each has her own story to tell about her life off the field, whether it’s launching brands, setting new trends or building personal empires while her significant other suits up for the gridiron. Though they all fall under the three-letter umbrella term of “WAG,” their individual and inspiring stories add up to so much more than that. Here’s a sneak peek of the latest digital SI Swimsuit edition featuring six NFL WAGs.

Very interesting to see the term "WAG" officially make it over to the states, didn't know we were doing that. Thought it was only used for soccer players in the UK? Also had no idea it was even OK to say, let alone celebrate. Always seemed like there were negative connotations around it across the pond.

Here's what my good friend Google had to say about it all:

-The term first appeared in the UK's press, notably in The Telegraph around 2002, gaining major traction during the 2006 World Cup to describe the partners of England's football (soccer) players.

-Tabloids often focused on their glamorous lifestyles, leading to intense media scrutiny and sometimes negative connotations, as seen with scandals around the 2006 team's trip to Baden-Baden.

-Women like Victoria Beckham (David Beckham's wife) and Morgan Riddle (Taylor Fritz's girlfriend) have challenged stereotypes, using their platforms to build their own brands, influence younger fans, and redefine what it means to be a WAG.

-Many athletes' partners, such as Kylie Kelce, dislike the term, feeling it pigeonholes them and diminishes their accomplishments, preferring to be known by their own names and professions.

But discourse be damned, if the (real) football world is gonna fully embrace it now then I guess there's nothing to worry about. Everybody can WAG off as they please. Inspiring!

And leave it to a Mahomes to change the rules of the NFL once again. But at least in this case, it's actually a very positive thing for all the fans out there.

RESPECTFULLY.

So fucking awesome seeing Brittany getting to have some fun in the sun! She deserves it. Pretty big month for that family between her getting in the UT Tyler Athletics Hall of Fame and all the other stuff they got going on. Woo hoo!

You go girl! Way to make that family name proud. Keep up the good work.

However Brittany wasn't the only WAG taking over this special edition. We also got Haley Cavinder, Christen Goff, Claire Kittle, Ronika Love & Normani in the mix too.

Now I'm only familiar with a few of them but regardless let me be the first to say,

Go WAGs GO!!

And for any Patriots fans here wondering about your fellow WAGs, seems like they're a pretty tight group. Makes sense when you got THE QUEEN OF THE NORTH & her six pack leading the charge.

PS: if the Ann Michael ab routine isn't enough for you then here's a free glute tutorial from the Cavinder Twins
