I Finally Watched Entourage For The First Time
And it's great!!!
Yes, I know, I'm 20 years late to this..whatever dude! I'm sure there's someone reading this right now who has never seen The Godfather. Someone is reading this right now who has never seen Breaking Bad. Or The Office. And so on and so forth. Sometimes shows just fall between the cracks, we all have one, and I have a handful of em. There was a good 5 year period of my life where I only watched the same 5 shows over and over again. Dark days, indeed. So now I'm catching up and let me say, Entourage was GREAT. It was not what I expected at all. I thought it was a dumb, Glenny Balls/frat boy show. How wrong of me. I apologize for judging a book by it's Glenny Balls cover. Entourage is simply a really good show. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm mad at myself for waiting this long to tune in. I shouldn't really be worried about spoilers of a show that premiered in 2004, but if you haven't watched yet, spoilers ahead:
Thoughts:
1) I love how the show progressed from "guys handing out, busting balls, smoking weed" to really getting into the business side of it. I love all the behind the scenes politics- reading scripts, getting casted, getting fucked, the highs, the lows, etc.
2) The characters, man. Vince is the "main character" but the universe around him is what keeps the show moving forward. As I said in the video, I love Johnny Drama so much. There is no easier character to root for, maybe ever. He is just a great guy, hilarious guy, with a heart of gold. Turtle having drive and aspirations was great and gave scenes you didn't expect from the sidekick/driver/errand boy. Great character development from him. And then there's E. I don't know what to say about him. Is he supposed to drive you insane? I get the group needs a straight man to even it all out, but god, lighten up a bit will ya?
3) And the best character, Ari Gold. The best written and best acted character in the series. Piven crushes it and my best comp for Ari Gold is Saul Goodman, which then makes me angry because an Ari Gold spinoff would have been perfect. I could watch (and I have been and will continue to) Ari monologues until the cows come home.
Oh shit right as I'm writing this, the man himself!

If you haven't seen it, give it a go. Turns out ol' Glenny Balls knew what he was talking about. A man of taste!
