It's a Sight to Behold as the Whole World Comes Out in Support of Bill Belichick. Meanwhile, Bill Polian Can't Keep His Story Straight.

In all the no-brainer decisions in the history of decision making, this should have been the no-braineriest. You can't keep a coach out of the Hall of Fame after he's won 333 career games, including 31 in the postseason, with a .651 winning percentage, unless you live in an alternate reality where "Fame" has an entirely different meaning than it does in our universe.

And yet here we are. According to several reports, all thanks to one conniving, duplicitous, weasely little man:

Here's the original story. Which absolutely, positively was leaked, just to inflict maximum damage to Bill Belichick long before the HoF voting is announced. I mean, notice how no other results of any of the voting is included. Only that Belichick didn't make it:

ESPN - In voting earlier this month, Belichick fell short of the 40 out of 50 votes needed for induction to the Pro Football Hall of Fame during his first year of eligibility, four sources with firsthand knowledge of the outcome told ESPN. Belichick received a call from a Hall representative last Friday afternoon with the news that he won't be inducted into the Hall in Canton, Ohio, this summer.

Several sources who spoke with the coach over the weekend described Belichick as "puzzled" and "disappointed" by his inability to secure support from at least 80% of Hall committee members.  …

The Hall's voting committee is composed mostly of veteran NFL reporters, but also includes football figures such as former general manager Bill Polian and former coach Tony Dungy, both of whom are Hall of Famers. …

In an interview with ESPN on Tuesday night, Polian denied telling fellow voters that Belichick should serve a one-year penance for Spygate. But he said he heard his fellow voters "float that idea" but he insisted he didn't agree or disagree with the proposal. … Polian added that he could not remember with 100% certainty if he voted for Belichick, saying he was 95% sure he voted for the coach and a player, "most likely" L.C. Greenwood.

Which should come as a surprise to everyone, since (Na)Polian already went on record to say he did, in fact, vote for Belichick:

So he was 100% certain before he was 95% certain. Tomorrow it will probably be 90%. Because who among us can't recall how we voted when the issue is whether or not to immortalize a figure in your sport for all eternity? That's like trying to remember who you voted for in the election for Town Comptroller or texting in your choice for this week's Dancing With the Stars. Who can keep track of all that?

The answer of course, is that he's lying. That has been confirmed by another voter:

When you're telling the truth, all you have to remember is what happened. When you're making shit up, you have to try to keep your story straight. And this doddering old, resentful, back-stabbing gasbag lacks the capacity to. He should've written it out on his hand for future reference.

And yet, there's a silver lining to all this. The people are speaking out about against this injustice. In one loud, unanimous voice. Belichick may have alienated a few small, timid nobodies like (Na)Polian over the course of his career. But he earned the undying respect of millions. And they're letting their voices be heard:

People who are mad as hell, and are not about to take this travesty lying down.

And even some sources you never would've imagined:

You know you missed your mark when your petty attempt to take out the king only inflames the masses and even unites Patriots fans with LeBron James, of all people. Nice try, Polian. But this is going to backfire on you once the full truth comes out. Enjoy your new banner:
