Johnny Knoxville Says He Absolutely Can NOT Get Hit In The Head While Filming Jackass 5 Due To A Traumatic Brain Injury..."But A Lot Of Other Guys Can"

Source - When Johnny Knoxville announced a new “Jackass” movie coming to theaters in June, fans of the slapstick stunt franchise wondered what type of role the 54-year-old ringleader would have in the production.

In 2022’s “Jackass Forever,” Knoxville performed a stunt where he was pummeled by a bull. He flipped in the air and landed on his head, causing a brain hemorrhage, concussion, broken wrist and broken rib. He has talked about how the injury changed his outlook on the future, indicating he would retire from doing dangerous stunts. Plus, the fourth “Jackass” movie introduced a bevy of younger performers alongside the original crew, hinting at the franchise’s potent

In a brief discussion about “Jackass 5” on the “Books That Changed My Life” podcast, Knoxville was asked, “Are you allowed to do stunts anymore?”

“I can’t do anything where I can get another concussion,” Knoxville said. “[I’m] way over my limit for concussions, but I don’t care about anything else. I just can’t get hit in the head anymore — but a lot of other guys can.” Knoxville said the “Jackass” movies are “pure hell for the cast, but they’re a lot of fun for me,” adding, “They’re having fun to I’m very excited about that.” “Jackass 5” will premiere in theaters on June 26 from Paramount Pictures.

There has never been a human more committed to their craft than Johnny Knoxville. Maybe Michael Jordan, but even he took a few years off. Johnny, on the other hand, has basically only taken time off when he has been medically required to do so. Here's a high level overview of some of his injuries...

Major Injuries & Incidents:

- Brain Hemorrhage & Concussions (Jackass Forever): A bull stunt resulted in a brain hemorrhage, concussion, broken wrist, and ribs, causing cognitive issues and depression for months. He's estimated to have had dozens of concussions overall

- Orbital Fracture (Action Point): An alpine slide stunt caused him to fly 25 feet, shattering his orbital lamina bone, making his eye pop out when he sneezed.

- Herniated Disc & Back Issues: A stunt in Jackass Number Two led to a herniated disc, causing his back to seize up and forcing him to fall.

- Broken Nose & Loss of Smell/Taste: Repeated nasal fractures compromised his senses.

- Severe Vertigo: A hit from Butterbean caused intense vertigo, making the room spin.

- Torn Urethra & Tendon: Other significant injuries.

Long-Term Effects:

-Cognitive Decline: Depression, difficulty focusing, and memory issues.

- Physical Limitations: Vertigo, balance problems, and requiring his eye to be pushed back in.

A torn dick takes the cake. As does whatever dealing with Bam Margera does to your health. Bam allegedly sign a deal to "appear in old footage" for the new film,  but that's another story. I guess their friendship is on the mend.

Regardless, Johnny has been doing Jackass for nearly 26 years and the fact that he's still alive is a miracle. Here he is a few years back talking about the hit that changed his life...

I almost feel guilty watching the new movie, but I know I'm going to. It's the swan song of a franchise that quite literally defined a generation. I just pray everyone can get out of there in one piece. See ya on June 26th!
