Katie Ledecky Is The Most Dominant Athlete On The Planet Right Now And It's Not Even Close

There are so many superstars across all sports right now, with plenty of athletes making a strong case for themselves in the GOAT conversations. Obviously we're still witnessing the very tail end of LeBron's career. It was a down year for the Chiefs, but Patrick Mahomes can still make a realistic run at Tom Brady's ring count. Connor McDavid may not have his name etched onto the Stanley Cup just yet, but there's no doubt in anybody's mind that he's one of the most talented humans to ever lace up a pair of skates. Scottie Scheffler isn't in the same tier as Tiger Woods, but he's definitely putting together a career that has earned some comparisons.

These guys are all great, but we've seen them look human every once in a while. Not often, but glimmers of evidence that they are of this world.

Katie Ledecky, on the other hand? Complete and total alien. Not a goddamn check in heck that she's human. What's insane is that she just swam the 2nd fastest 1500m ever at 15:23.21. Which is almost a full 3 minutes off of her own world record she set in 2018.

All the other swimmers who touched the wall a few seconds after Katie Ledecky finished her heat? They still had at least another down-and-back to go. She had time to hang out and catch her breath before anybody else was even getting started on their final lap.

It's crazy because like...it's swimming. How in the world can one woman be THAT much better than literally anybody else on the planet? You jump in the water, and you swim from one end of the pool to the other. I know there's more to it than that, but honestly how much more could there possibly be? At least in respect to other sports. And yet somehow she is so much better than everybody else that she could be out of the pool and dried off before some of her competitors are done swimming. Now I wish swimming was a winter Olympic sport because I need more of Katie Ledecky in my life.
