"I Think About It Every Time I Blink" Tyrese Haliburton Talks About His Achilles Injury
Gregory Shamus. Getty Images. The Athletic - “I think about it every time I blink, he said of the injury. I think about it all the time. I don’t know if I’ll ever not think about it, he said, but you gotta understand that you’ve got to move on.”
Everything for the most part has been shit in Indianapolis this season. Watching games has been a complete chore. In fact, cleaning the gutters may even feel better than watching 4 quarters of Pacers basketball. No true starting center, a historic amount of injuries, and the worst record in the NBA - the laundry list of doom and gloom goes on. So hearing this heartbreaking quote about Haliburton's injury hasn't made things easier. Currently the highlight of the season has been seeing Hali simply dunk 22 weeks after surgery.
Despite being reminded of the injury every time the Pacers play with a clip package of 700 different angles of Haliburton tearing his achilles, I've tried to avoid any and all mentions of Game 7 of the NBA finals. I still haven't worked up the courage to watch the Starting 5 - Netflix documentary, knowing the Pacers were right there is too painful to relive. This article was a nice way to dip my toe into those waters, and would be helpful for any Pacers fan feeling the same way. Sounds like despite Hali struggling with the injury he's mentally going to come back stronger than ever, which you have to love. That on top of what is hopefully a top 3 draft pic in April and the Pacers are back, we just have to sit through another 3 months of winter and terrible basketball. Nothing is easy.
